CAROLÏN&PHILIPP: the ZONENKINDER Collective reflects the topics nature & identity and thereby our Animal-Human relationships and exploring questions of consumerism, „Everyday Lifestyle“ and sustainability.

Das Kunstkollektiv ZONENKINDER wurde 2003 vom Künstlerduo CAROLÏN&PHILIPP gegründet, das zu den Pionier*innen der figurativen Graffiti- und Urban Art in Deutschland zählt. Internationale Bekanntheit erlangte das Kollektiv insbesondere durch Wandgemälde im öffentlichen Raum sowie durch das Tree Project, ephemere Installationen in der Natur. Sie hinterfragen in ihren Arbeiten mit einer Prise Leichtigkeit und Liebe zum Leben unseren „Everyday Lifestyle“. Sie richten das Augenmerk auf unsere Identitäten als menschliche Tiere in ihren vielfältigen Verflechtungen mit der Natur. Derzeit interessiert sie insbesondere das paradoxe Verhältnis zwischen Menschen und nichtmenschlichen Tieren.

The Artist couple CAROLÏN&PHILIPP aka the Art Collective ZONENKINDER, that was founded 2003 in Berlin, is rooted in Hip Hop, Graffiti and Urban Art, Punk, Anime and Pop Art Cultures creating their naturerelated shared Œuvre. Since the nineties they were involved in Graffiti and Techno Culture and are among the pioneers of Figurative narrative Graffiti and Urban Art in Germany. Art, Activism and their daily life is not separate. The Artists work and live in Hamburg. The duo is internationally known for its urban interventions referring to our contrary relationships towards nature e.g. Tree Project, establishing a link between Contemporary Urban Art and Environmental art. The artists express themselves by using various materials and different surfaces like canvases and facades outside for figurative narrative paintings, sculptures and outdoor installation to create their own language. Their studio work is focused on reflecting the impact of human life on earth and nature, sociological questions of our lifestyle, consumption and climate crisis. In Particular they are interested in the relationship between humans and non-human animals that might be characterized by widespread indifference on intensive livestock farming and the infinite love for pets. The work is meant to be accessible for all people on a different level and vibration of experience sometimes inclusive and sometime provocative or both at the same time.
Being creative around the globe the artists exhibited for instance at the M.I.A.M. - Musée International des Arts Modestes, Séte (France) invited by Hervé die Rosa or at the Gogol-Festival Kiev (Ukraine) invited by the German and French Embassy. In 2017 and 2018 they had the chance to work in southern China in cooperation with the German Consulate General Kanton, the Artist Project Jardin Orange and the Redtory Art Disctrict. For their outstanding contributions to the evolution of the Urban Arts movement the collective receivedthe ARTAQ AWARD Paris.
