Last year I started making a series of hand-drawn animated gifs, "4D drawings", initially one each day for a month and continuing one a week for the past year. The tight parameters of weekly deadline, loopy format, and the necessarily small file size have been very exciting to explore.
New ones are still posted every week at http://zeathefourth.tumblr.com
This project started with a maniacal stroke of insight and a sharpie. Already lamenting the sad cinematic remakes of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and the Producers, I caught wind of Young Frankenstein on broadway and various discussions about Blazing Saddles and was taken with such outrage that the next generations will be robbed on the genius that is Gene Wilder, I took up a pen, called a printer friend and started telling all my friends I needed a 12 shirt minimum to get them printed. Soon my inbox was filling with sympathetic strangers by word of mouth. And, shortly, I was stuffing envelopes with t-shirts to send around the world to passionate Wilder fans everywhere.
Then, Tom over at wireandtwine.com asked if his hand-printing operation in Cleveland could help and the shirts were available around the clock for purchase for years to follow.
Still haven't been able to get a shirt to Gene yet, let me know if you've got contact.
