Mercy Lounge

The story goes something like this: I frequent the Mercy Lounge very regularly. It is the one music venue in town that consistently gets acts to play that are actually interesting and provides a nice atmosphere to see them. I frequent the place so much that I became friends with the people that work there and it came out that I was a web developer. It also came to light that their current website (at the time) was awful.

I don't recall when I offered my services but it came out at some point that I thought they needed a better home on the web. After many months of them trying to get their current host to redesign their site they abandoned ship and turned to me for a full scale redesign / re-code. I was extremely hesitant because, frankly, it's a huge site to tackle in my free time. But I agreed and took a few meetings to figure out exactly what they wanted.

In the end, I designed a very clean and easy to use site that attempts to focus on the calendar and getting people excited about coming to the venue to see the acts. Making it easy to retrieve show information was priority one - hopefully I achieved that goal. I am particularly happy to have created an iCal feed for upcoming shows so that, technically, you never really have to visit the site; you can just reference your own personal calendar.

Thus far the feedback has been super positive. I've got a bit more work left to do on it but even if I never touched a bit of it again I can sleep soundly knowing that I was able to give these guys an upgrade of about 200%. Rarely do I toot my own horn in that regard but I am really happy with how this turned out and hope it confirms the venues place in town as The Best.
