Who Dares Wins

Done in collaboration as The Black Doctors. Photo by Blake McClure.

As part of the Digital EP release initiative from How I Became the Bomb we were asked to come up with a cover concept for the first release, Who Dares Wins. We were given a Russian cosmonaut space helmet that had certifiably been to space, an album title and that was it. Being given complete creative freedom can be nice but can also be daunting; as the sky is the limit.

Overall, I think the cover image turned out well. It changed up the visual language of the band as everything that had been released previously was always based on public domain line art - the photography was a large shift in presentation; an intentional move as the music itself was a shift from the pop stylings of their first EP.

Many thanks to Blake for helping out with so much of the lighting and being patient while we art directed a scene that we felt would present itself if we just tried enough configurations.. and it did.

You can download the music for this release here.
