The project was spawned from a birdhouse design exhibit put on by the Vancouver Design Bureau collective. The idea of Favela was inspired by Haas & Hahn, two artists who are reframing the notorious slums of Brazil into vibrant, uplifting communities through painted murals. We wanted to take the same approach to showcase the idea of "urbanized wildlife” by reintroducing color and wildlife back into industrial spaces in a form of temporary graffiti.

Favela includes a negative extrusion with a concealed opening, a removable top, and comes in a variety of colours. Equipped with earth magnets, Favela can be placed onto a variety of metallic surfaces.
