LX Factory, based in Alcantara Lisbon in what was once a large print and textile factory dating from 1846, has now become the home of many creative businesses, restaurants, cafe's, galleries, shops and even a dental practice.
We made this film to capture a snapshot of the different work and people we have here currently. We had a bicycle, some rollers, a camera, some fearless people and a little help from our friends and this is the result.
Director Oliver Durant and Art Director Bruna Guerreiro.
We work in a shared creative studio space called BALNEÁRIO on the 3rd floor of LX Factory. In our studio space is a guy called Kico who has a bike shop called Rcicla Bicicletas. They make bikes by 'recycling' parts from vintage bikes to create new ones. The bike in the video is a customized vintage bike created by Kico. Some friends in our studio space joined us on the production of the film - Andre and Miguel, who are new to Balneario and have a production company called Bamp. And our long time studio partners Rute and Sandra, who are architects (LOLA Architecture) lent us a helping hand by persuading residents into riding and catching them when they fell off.
Thanks to all the brave LX Factory residents who put aside their fears and rode our bike!
Below are the riders from the video and their respective studios/businesses.
