Artist Statement

I am an artist working with a combination of installation, video and photography. In my work I deal with issues such as historicism, memory and perception, focusing on the use of the archive in photography and film. I am particularly interested in exploiting the phenomenological potentials of these particular mediums.

Originally from the Netherlands, I have lived in several countries including Poland, Greece, Bulgaria and Ireland. I have just completed a joint BA in Fine Art Media and Art History at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, and have participated in the Erasmus Exchange program at the Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp. I wrote my BA thesis on Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenology in reference to Chris Marker’s filmworks.

I was one of the founding members of the Dodo Collective, a group of six artists who staged a series of exhibitions in disused commercial spaces around Dublin. I have also written for numerous publications, such as Circa Art Magazine, Paper Visual Art Journal and GUP Magazine. I am currently based in The Hague.
