About Stewart Bywater
Stewart Bywater was born in 1980. A childhood interest in music led to him becoming the youngest musician ever to play a cornet solo at the Bedford music festival. He later went on to join a band with makeup designer Sara Strand, socialite Cassandra Moore and a man called Steve, to play the best selling gig ever at the Troubadour, in London's Earl's court, outselling the likes of Hendrix, Dylan and Joplin, though this time on the guitar and vocals.

Stewart was educated at Repton School in Derbyshire, but left at the age of sixteen, to go and live in Venezuela, where he remained for a year. Upon his return, he completed his A-levels and went to University College London, to read Scandinavian Studies. At the time, his department was the most successful of any department in any university in the UK.

For a year and a half, both during and after his studies, Stewart worked in London's Metropolitan Hotel – the hottest celebrity hangout of the time – thanks to the fact that the famous Met Bar and Michelin starred Nobu restaurant were both situated within its walls. Stewart's position as the room service night supervisor gave him the opportunity to see many unusual things, and he would write a book about his experiences there if he thought anyone would believe them.

Having spent a further two years in the service industry, Stewart ventured off to live in the sixth arrondissement of Paris. For a year, he worked as assistant to Philip Hawkes, France's most prestigious real estate agent, specialising in luxury pre-twentieth-century Parisian town houses and chateaux throughout France; a job which he truly relished (although there would certainly be material for a second book there!). During his French adventure, Stewart started to use the digital bridge camera his father had given him the previous Christmas, and realised that he rather enjoyed taking photographs.

Stewart returned to England in 2006 – a decision which he instantly regretted – and started to take his new hobby of photography very seriously. By August 2007, he was Features Writer for Digital SLR Photography magazine, the UK's biggest and best photography magazine. In the same week as Digital SLR Photography won the PIXEL Magazine of the Year award, Stewart decided to leave to pursue a career in television. His first role, where he remains, was at North One Television, as a researcher on the UK's number one technology-related television programme - The Gadget Show.

Fluent in English, Spanish and French (and capable of a smattering of Swedish), Stewart is available for photographic commissions anywhere in the world. Please use the contact link on this site to get in touch.
