During my Final Synthesis course with Density Design I faced the theme of mapping complex controversies through digital methods handling large quantities of data and finding adequate visual representations. Among the field of adaptation to climate change, my four team-mates and I chose to focus on the issue of energy.

The first step of the work investigated the current situation of energy supply through data provided by official sources and took the shape of a 100x70 poster, also available in its original dimension.

The second step instead limited the horizons of research to a single spot of controversy. We chose the heated debate over photovoltaic energy and produced a report using particular web-based methods to delve into the online discussions.

In the end, the third part of the course aimed to tell and communicate in a simple way the whole work and its final results through a motion graphic video.

A sensual nurse who struggles to gain the custody of her child. An ambitious lawyer who aspires to succeed. A dandy guy who strives to break free from his family. A violent taxi driver who loses his head trying to get rich.
All this at a trial in court, all this in the head of a single person, all this according to the watcher's choices.

With "J. Doe" the cinematic experience reaches the next level. A unique scenario blending criminal drama with an immersive, utterly overwhelming personal experience. A gunshot, multiple stories and a new form of interaction based on body sensors. Remember, it could be you.

Russian Yuri Kurbatov designed a typographic hand for advertising purpose in 1968. That hand repeats dozens of times the same phrase in Cyrillic alphabet: "ЧИТАИТЕ ЖУРНАЛ ДЕКОРАТИВНОЕ ИСКУССТВО СССР (Read Russian Decorative Arts Magazine)". Its esthetic value lies in the repetition of the basic element and in its three-dimensional thoroughly realistic structure. Not an easy composition to animate, thus a challenging way to approach kinetic typography.

The animation took inspiration from the concepts of hand and typography together with a clear reference to Russia's past. That is why it shows an invisible hand typing its own typographical portrait to the rhythm of Tchaikovsky's most popular piece.

Shape, color, action and editing are the main visual features to determine the good harmony between audio and video which is typical of synesthesia. In this case we exploited its multi-sensorial power to shorten the distance between our ordinary reality and the ones haunted by war; the original title was in fact a pun ("sentire" means both "feeling" and "hearing"). Video realized as a fictional promo for Emergency, first-aid Italian-based non-profit organization working all around the world in war scenarios. (Last phrase states: "War is a reality. Closer than what you hear/feel.")

Photographic project about four of the main common vices: smoking, gluttony, drinking and lust. I chose symbolic objects made in glass or transparent plastic to convey the immateriality of pleasure and to play with light to enhance their appeal. Fullscreen

Let's imagine French graphic art gallery Galerie Anatome opening a new branch in Milan. Let's imagine graphic designer Michal Batory exhibiting his works there. This complex identity project answer to that fictional event.

First of all, I designed the logo for the new branch Anatome Milano and its identity manual.

Then I faced the main identity task creating a coordinated visual system based on the author's style. I was asked to design a booklet displaying the author's works, an invitation and its envelope, a press kit, a poster and a banner.
