This poster serves to emphasise the strong bonds Singaporeans share among family and friends, whether they are overseas studying or working, or simply away from home serving national service. I chose to highlight this as a significant part of Singaporean culture because it is quite frequent that we find family members and friends away from us.
To express this idea, I used the Chinese idiom "Ou Duan Si Lian", which refers to how when a lotus root is broken, thin fibrous links are still seen between the 2 halves, and means to say that although loved ones are apart, they will always have them in each others' hearts.
