Sara Barbas is a Portuguese Bristol-based award-winning director, writer, animator and creative producer with an international track record. Sara has been working in the Animation industry since 1997 in different roles, having mainly freelanced for Aardman Animations and the BBC. She has been awarded an MA in Animation and an MA in Interactive Media from the University of the West of England and will be completing her final scripts for the MA in Scriptwriting for Radio, Theatre, Television and Film at Bath Spa University this Spring. Her graduation film for the MA in Animation has been awarded internationally and Sara has also written for the worldwide-distributed stopmotion series Shaun the Sheep as well as developed her own series at Aardman’s.
Sara has just completed her first live-action short film Worlds Apart that she's now sending to film festivals around the globe. Presently Sara is working on her new animated short – Final Call - with big international partners. She first developed this short film at The Animation Workshop in Viborg, within the setting of the Open Workshop artistic residency.

Sara strikes a balance between developing, writing and directing her own works and accepting commissions as a writer, director or creative producer.
