When talking about the important things/persons in the world, we used to think about idols, super stars, politicians, and even Jesus Christ. But if you look inside everybody’s heart a little bit harder, the thing you will find is surely ‘football’.
This short animation shows what/who the real god of this modern world is. Football is the beautiful game. It is for everybody. This animation is the answer why football is so beloved throughout the whole world.

Rem Koolhaas and the Influence of Architectural Thought and Practice
on OMA School Architects

Great project, through your approach you were 'embedded' without actually being there,
very clever. (03.02.2011)
its very interesting!!! (28.01.2011)
"Very Interesting Yan" (23.01.2011)
"amazing - truly great work!" (24.01.2011)
"His graduate thesis, “Rem Koolhaas and the Influence of Architectural Thought and Practice
on OMA School Architects” was by far the most thought provoking thesis of all time.
He was able to unraveled complex relationship between Rem Koolhaas, OMA*AMO,
and people who worked with the organization and capturing its influences that shaped
contemporary architectural practice of this era." (20.01.2011)

This project is the research, which took almost 2 years to be completed, on how Rem Koolhaas
work on his designs, his architectural approaches, and his architectural practice.
What is so special about him that makes him one of the world greatest architects.
What is so special about his practice in OMA*AMO.
And what are the influences of his work and
his thinking process on the company he worked with
both in the past and the present.
The Thai Completed (A4) 264 pages book.
Before, architecture was designed and created by architect’s individual approach.
It is the common practice to solve design problems. The variety of design can be depended on social,
environment,
economics, and belief.
The approach is usually passed from masters to their students which particular context helps
shaping design.
However, for most architects, “intuitive and aesthetic senses are still remain in their heart and soul.

The establishment of design firm who is a former architect in Rem Koolhass’s house has
become larger across Europe to America
and some parts in Asia.
The thinking approach is followed research-based practice which is the most prominent approach today.
The objectives of this research are: 1.to analyze Rem Koolhaas’s architectural approach
and his way of teaching; 2. to analyze Rem Koolhaas’ system of passing on knowledge through his office;
3. to study the influence of Rem Koolhaas on OMA School architects.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/39525/865740/Timeline.jpg" width="571" height="365" width_o="571" height_o="365" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/39525/865740/Timeline_o.jpg" data-mid="9846661" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/39525/865740/diagramremzoomin.jpg" width="571" height="365" width_o="571" height_o="365" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/39525/865740/diagramremzoomin_o.jpg" data-mid="10748003" border="0" align="left"/>

Interviews of Rem Koolhaas’s friends, professor, and OMA School Architects both independent
and dependent around the world were conducted for 5 months.

The result from overall interviews begin with finding solution, based on the original research question,
and use “indexing” as methodology which lead to important “keywords” and information verification,
then use “data triangulation” method for cross-checking the solution.

The procedures of clarifying the objectives are separated into research issues and using
qualitative research methodology by gathering data from interview and
other secondary sources.

The result of this study has shown that Koolhaas’s approach can be divided into 2 steps:
conceptual thinking and physical design thinking.
His distinguishable approach neglected all architectural conventions and did not specify the result
of his approach only on the building,
but integrated social, economic, political issued with architectural thoughts to find out the new way
by denying intuitive thinking in all processes but use research as a thinking tool,
which corresponds with his various roles as designer, writer, educator, and lecturer.

The overlapped roles result in new forms of architectural production such as joint research
with academic institutions,
new genres of architectural publication, consistent supplies of skilled employees for OMA*AMO
and the discourse of architectural itself.
Through his many outlets, Koolhaas not only demonstrates his approach to architecture,
but also spreads his influence for into the academic, professional, and theoretical realms.

Global Warming has been hot issue for years. But the campaigns to solve this problem have no
powerful impact worldwide. They are always campaign to solve the problem from disaster with no plan
to prevent it from happening...
<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/39525/865740/1.jpg" width="571" height="400" width_o="571" height_o="400" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/39525/865740/1_o.jpg" data-mid="8323688" border="0" align="left"/>
This work, a quest to save the planet, requires so many researches to support the possibility of doing it,
to support the question of how to solve/help Global Warming worldwide,
and to support the everyday life of the people all around the world.

The key of this quest to save the planet lies in this simple sentence: matters always exist.
Matters always contain the energy even when they change their form and shape.
The concept can be used with human’s excrement and adapted into the powerful ‘weapon’
to deal with Global Warming.

Slum problem is an unsolvable problem in a big city like Bangkok for a very long period.
The government has been trying to solve it by moving people out of slum and building other residential
units to support the ‘moved’ people. But slum is still there being an unsolvable problem like before.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/39525/822703/masterplanl.jpg" width="600" height="429" width_o="600" height_o="429" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/39525/822703/masterplanl_o.jpg" data-mid="4641009" border="0" align="left"/>

Bo Farang, a big slum in Bangkok, has been developed into an amenity community
because of its 70%
of waste water area has potential to be developed into lake-side tourist spot by planting new water plants
and feeding some new aquatic animals.
After doing so, Bo Farang became a place which provided jobs for people in the slum and
also became a place with sustainable development

Sukhothai Resort, Phuket, Thailand
Department of Architecture co.,ltd.

a high-end chain hotel, aimed to develop new beach resort in Phuket which is one of the ultimate
tourism destinations of the world.
With a large scale of the site and its complex contour, the site analysis needs to be thoroughly
in search of site’s potential.
The analysis indicated that some part of the site can contain rain water to create an amenity
for the whole project and the differences figure all over the site affect functions and programs in the project.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/39525/822703/4.jpg" width="600" height="800" width_o="600" height_o="800" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/39525/822703/4_o.jpg" data-mid="3916317" border="0" align="left"/>

Made the contour study model and created a master plan layout of the project.
By doing these in a three-person team, my responsibilities were to design the site planning, site drainage,
site’s vista, common area, and service area of the whole project.

Vigan, Philippines Heritage Homeowner's Preservation Manual
Status: completed

The Heritage Homeowners’ Preservation Manual is a useful component our heritage conservation program.
It takes us a step further by making us understand better not only the significance of our place and its setting,
but also the nature and special care required to maintain the various elements of our ancestral houses
which make them unique, special and environment-friendly.
This manual also helps us rediscover the genius and artistry of our forefathers, thus enhancing our
pride of ownership and sense of responsibility.
By making us aware of our distinct historic properties, this manual can stimulate us to make creative use of
unutilized spaces within our properties, thereby encouraging investment, job creation,
enhanced social environment.
The publication also pays homage to our fiestas and festivals, traditional arts, crafts, and local delicacies.

Sila Evason Hideaway, a five-star resort in worldwide, has finished its first construction phase in 2004, and
it has been awarded one of the 116 best new hotels of the world voted
by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine’s readers.

In the following construction phase, there are many development processes in common area, main restaurant,
dining terrace, swimming pool, etc.
I took responsibility in these development processes by working on physical study models and drawings
to create new architectural programs in the area between restaurant and swimming pool.

iCassette (Completed)
Cassette is a junk created from ‘cultural changes’ in which it changed the way we listen to music into digital content.
Cassette is outdated and considered as useless piece of junk.

Traveled throughout all the giant pile of junk in Bangkok to find the cassette and creating its system to develop
into architectural function.

This project tried hard to metaphor this ‘junk’ into architectural functions by developing module system from it.
Find its movement system and its effects from wind and lighting.
This system can somehow create an interesting partition and rooftop in any architecture.

How to ‘read’ the system from waste materials.
How to work so damn hard in a week and just get some rest by taking a short nap and eat some snacks!!

Horizontal Limit
There are not enough green areas in Bangkok because of Bangkok’s over population, its sky scraper buildings, and its traffic jam problems. These problems cause Bangkok unable to build more green areas horizontally.
<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/39525/826144/horizontal-limit.jpg" width="670" height="474" width_o="670" height_o="474" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/39525/826144/horizontal-limit_o.jpg" data-mid="4755788" border="0" align="left"/>

With limitation of the area in Bangkok and the pollution from the traffic, ‘hanged park’ is created to offer new horizontal green area to Bangkokians and change the ground level to totally be area for traffic only.

Asia Conserved II: Lessons Learned from the UNESCO
Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation 2005-2009’ presents a panoramic survey of the wealth of architectural heritage in the region and provides a blueprint for concerted action on the part of private citizens and governments alike in its conservation.

Presented in case study format, this book showcases best conservation practices achieved by winning projects in the second five years of the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards programme. The projects encompass a range of building typologies, from fortified palaces to vernacular residences, ornate houses of worship to utilitarian factories, elegant engineering works to urban districts. From the case studies are derived important lessons that show how strong public-private partnerships and innovative grassroots initiatives can create a powerful platform for the protection of the historic built environment in such diverse places as the ancient cities of Central Asia, the cultural landscapes and historic precincts of South Asia, the port settlements of South-East Asia and the urban centers of East Asia.

I had been working in this project for 6 months taking responsibility in all the drawings; plans, sections, elevations, for 11 different types of work from temples to urban planning which are all from the award winning in 2007 and some from the award winning in 2006 and 2008.

Johor Art Farm
Malaysia has been trying so hard to leverage the southern district to match what Singapore offers
in many issues to attract new investors: urban development, real estate development, leisure zone development,
and new economic district development.
By the way, Singapore is parted from Malaysia in 1965. And with its super small area,
just 710.2 square kilometers, of the nation makes Singapore to not own any original cultures.
But the statistic recently shows that Singapore create the most value in art auction in South-East Asia region.
With new economic planning along with its originally beautiful nature in Johor Bahru,
new architectural program is created to support the ‘environmental art’ which is a sustainable art movement today.
And the concept of the new program is to use its nature to create new art style
and create new alternative energy use also.

The interactive balloon surface.
Interactive design defining new spaces in Happy New Year party by using a huge surface balloon which allows people to interact with it by remote control, making it change its color. The surface balloon also acts like a fluid background for animation show and acts like an equalizer illustration showing how loud the music is as in most music player programs.

6 Finalists The New Thai Police Box Competition
The police should stand aside the people. But in this modern context, it seems the police can’t contact with the people much.
This project was to create a new Thai police box under the concept that the police should contact with people easier than before. The police box contained a wall that acts like a screen for a projector inside the police box. And this ‘wall’ will display some texts or some sentences to contact with the passing by people in real time.

Farang-ner Hostel (Commission)
This premium-grade hostel is a renovated building in Chiang Mai downtown which perfectly combines local culture and western culture together. This hostel is, not only an accommodation, to make new experiences of how people live under the same architectural spaces in the concept of ‘socialize’.
Its design provides enjoyable use of the spaces.
The spaces are such flexible to support different kind of activities from users.
This ‘gimmick’ offers new experiences of accommodation. The entire gimmick came from an intensive research on hostel users with age around 20 - 30 years old.

The World War II had been suffering people in Hiroshima and also in the whole Japan for 65 years. The pain forced Japanese people to help rebuild their nation to be one of the strongest nations in the world today. Unfortunately, the globalization in this modern day has erased the spirits of the nation out of Japanese young generation.
The daily lives of Japanese people are contained with extremely stress. Its people seem to forget the spirits of the nation. They just want to work as hard as possible to gain money and success rapidly. Everyday they have to get to their offices by using super crowded mass transportation with such hurry. This mess makes the young Japanese forget how to live a peaceful life with other people. These reasons cause the process of urban reading to create new architectural program that will encourage Japanese people to get back in touch with the past in positive way and to chill themselves out before going to offices.
The recall is presented through spaces with variety of materials such as raw concrete and bark glass. The tighten space, its silence penetrating in complicated context, and the light at the end of the space help enlighten people who enter it.
