<description>I designed for a burgeoning brand, including the “Belong” campaign. I developed their video-based brand channel. print, video (editing and production), motion design, audio production, flash animation, photography. Work included long-view promotional video, e-cards, interactive content, video interviews, marketing strategies, etc.

Shown is the 2008 Viewbook, having worked with a separate designer and the creative director, wherein we split labor over photography, typography, illustration and system.

Ninth Letter is an internationally-recognized, award-winning publication managed by the School of Art and Design at UIUC. Each designer is in charge of an article, a cover proposal, and a video.

Shown here is the short story “Not Until You Say Yes,” by Steve Almond. The concept demonstrates an expansive space with which the protagonists' conversations could breathe and reflect. Meticulous emphasis on typography as both decoration and symbol.

As well, shown is my cover proposal. I was asked by the art director to extend the typographic concepting into the cover. The result: each "block" on the cover the opening entry (and author's name) to every poem and article in the magazine.

<description>A 5000-word personal narrative. Five chapters, five visual metaphors (i.e.: sine wave as the "up's and down's" of life), to illustrate and illuminate moments that impacted me the most.

Extensive experimentation in typography to illustrate and emphasize, as well as significant use of diagram for visual and conceptual reinforcement. Writings came from a mixture of poetry, lyrics and narrative explorations.

		<description>Masdar City
A conceptual project for Masdar City, a community in Abu Dhabi built to be run 100% sustainably. This display project aimed to show and motivate the community by showing conservation levels of four major categories: electricity, waste, water and air conditioning. Information worked in a time-line, where particular "high scores" manifest into a flower blooming from the desert sands.

<description>Created an identity for a national engineering company in need of an improved branding campaign. Various ideations made with the original mark a graceful, multi-layered swirl, reflecting the multi-faceted nature of the company. Includes motion design videos demonstrating the symbolic connection between the formal elements of the logo and the various aspects of their company's model.

<description>I was the in-house designer of an online fitness company of less than ten people, dedicated to providing online resources and coaching for fitness trainers. HFPN was a sister company of my current employer, the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

I assumed the role of art director for all major projects in all major design channels, fostered all branding guidelines, and created the communicative brand, entailing all integrated marketing efforts.

As the sole designer in the company, I utilized external designers and vendors to fulfill part of the company's communication workload.

Budgets were very tight across the board, so the objective was to build a brand from iconography and other "from-scratch" branding vocabulary that would capture the attention of the user, improve conversions to membership and maintain strong consumer engagement for the long-term.

Sharecare has now acquired HFPN for its professional membership arm.

The following video is HFPN's B2B presentation video for a national conference sponsored by New Evolution Ventures. Primary objective was to introduce the company and its concept to the full spectrum of the fitness industry, as well as a showcase of our outgoing brand strategy.

Under a very tight deadline and with very specific messaging needs, I was in control of the art direction and visual/presentation concept; assisted in editorial content; conducted all motion design, graphic design and photography; and did my best to do a presentable voiceover.

Brand strategy, art direction, management and implementation of design and multimedia channels for a national fitness institution. Working on a very large array of collateral--nothing tremendous to show yet, but do keep a look-out in the coming months.

NASM is a highly reputable brand from a functional standpoint. So far, I have revamped their brand to accommodate symbolic expressions in order to elevate their messaging, revenue objectives and audience perception.

I'm working to re-develop their brand strategy from the ground up, systematizing their product offerings and revitalizing their communications portfolio, with the objective of diversifying into the consumer wellness industry.
