<description>A short exercise animated with sand on top of a sheet of glass. This was an exercise at NFTS with sand animation pioneer Caroline Leaf.

NFTS 2010
Music by Jonathan Hill

I returned to this technique in 2012 at the Fête de L'Anim in Lille, France, where a team of three students from NFTS participated in an "animated marathon" with other schools. We used salt on black paper, plus a collection of everyday objects, to animate a scene about big fish eating smaller fish. We did coloring in AfterEffects.

The Fête staff edited these clips together and added music. Our segment begins at 1:53.

<description>A short exercise written and animated to a pre-existing soundtrack. I animated paper cutouts by hand on glass multiplane.

NFTS 2010
Sound by Pavol Kajan

This is a time-lapse video shot while I was animating Sentry. I built my multiplane from scratch using Dexion Slotted Angle and sheets of glass. Layers of 1/8 diffusion gels on each pane of glass gave the impression of fog thickening in the distance.
