My previous concept of a topography classroom was transformed into educating the children through a cellular structure. This idea of the building as the cellular core to the children’s education is carried through by the intervention. The irregularity of the design and system allowed the children to explore the classrooms with the same approach as my previous project. <img In this two part project, I took the task to investigate how a child’ senses can be enhanced through the primitive ways of a topography playground. The organization purchased a historical building that once was a factory manufacturing copper paints for boats in Gloucester, MA. The historical significance of both site and organization allowed the project to stir towards creating an awareness to water for the visitors. Using the historic Providence Arcade as the focal, this project provides work and gallery spaces for local creative individuals and entrepreneurs. Establishing connections to the Rhode Island School of Design and the larger community, this center will aim to educate as well as stimulate creative interest in the city. Additionally, the arcade will host a designers’ Biennale every two years, drawing creative individuals worldwide and spurring new life into downtown Providence. <img
