Summer Series with the return of Nick Curly!

A relentless and unstoppable Nick Curly heads into 2012 on the back of yet another excellent year. Nick once again reached the highest echelons of Resident Advisor's annual DJ poll, released Cocoon's biggest selling 12" of 2011 and his residency at Space Ibiza's Kehakuma continued to break new ground. Unquestionably proud of his home-town, this Mannheim native's talent and determination has long outlasted the hype that broke out in the late 00's over the house sound which emerged there.

Stable presents CAPACITY 260

It's been a long time coming and this March will see the first in a series of electronic musical experiences with
both high level
multimedia and full length performances by both local and international talent. CAPACITY 260 will showcase
Spanish Techno
heavyweight, Oscar Mulero for the first time in Australia and he will be performing a solid 3hours+.

OSCAR MULERO [DETUND*, ESP, Tresor, Warm Up, Pole Records]

Oscar Mulero Djs career has been as prolific and long lasting as the development of dance music. As a key figure in this evolution,Oscar has always absorbed new trends and kept his finger on the pulse of electronic dance music, from the end of the 80s right up to the present day. It is impossible to understand the phenomenon of this DJ in Spain without taking into account his tireless work behind the decks for more than a decade. Oscar began as a DJ at the end of the 80s in Madrid, at the most experimental clubs such as Impossible, Capital, Kitch and Babia playing Gothic Rock and EBM, the most important styles at the time. In the 90s he began to play at the legendary club New World (Madrid), the most influential after-hours. By the middle of the 90s he helped to set up and run The Omen, a club which quickly became the most important place for hypnotic dance in Spain. The closures of this legendary club in 1995 marked a change in direction. He began to play all around Spain and gradually distanced himself from his characteristic sound he had previously favoured and moved towards a more basic minimal techno influenced by artists such as Joey Beltram and the new Detroit sound of Jeff Mills. Oscar has become an icon, the maximum exponent of the hard techno sound in Spain and his popularity grew in an unstoppable geometric progression. Oscars sound became more and more focused, incorporating technos most advanced developments into his sets. His incredible skills behind the decks and his spectacular EQ techniques never leave the crowd indifferent. While his DJ schedule took him around the world, Oscar started producing and releasing his first tracks in 1999. In 2000 he decided to create his own label Warm Up Recordings. Oscar has also set up a new label, Pole Recordings which kept the Warm up theme alive but with modern sound design. His charisma and his professionalism have turned Oscar into something more than a DJ. He is admired wherever he goes and nobody can deny his status in the Spanish techno scene. We can only ask why has he not been here before?

Future Music Festival presents

APHEX TWIN - Warp, Rephlex, Planet mu.

Aphex Twin, the mysterious ambient mastermind of ‘Windowlicker’ fame, who notoriously shuns the spotlight, is playing two extremely special and rare sideshows as part of the Future Music Festival Tour.

Not seen on Australian shores since 2004, his long awaited reappearance is highly anticipated and his live show needs to be seen to be believed. With limited performances at only the world’s top festivals, this is a once in a lifetime chance to see his live show in all its glory.

Arguably one of the most influential electronic artist in the history of contemporary dance music, Aphex Twin (AKA Richard David James) has been twisting minds and taking dancefloors on epic ‘braindance’ journeys since the release of his debut EP ‘Analogue Bubblebath’ back in 1991.

Making use of a whopping 14 monikers during his career, as Aphex Twin he is best known and loved for his groundbreaking albums ‘Selected Ambient Works 85-92’, ‘Selected Ambient Works Volume 2’, ‘…I care Because You Do’, ‘Richard D. James Album’ and ‘Druqks’), and iconic tunes like ‘Come To Daddy’, and ‘Windowlicker’.

Renowned for trawling the sweetest sounds from a range of genres – including Ambient, Acid, Breakbeat, Techno and Noise, and mixing them up to set the world on fire, this veritable genius is a true master, in every sense of the word.

Supported by Mark Pritchard, Harmonic 313, JPS and Mike Hunt.

Stable, Thick as Thieves, and Novel presents,

The Summer Series with BUTCH!

After 3 heavy duty nights in 2011, The Summer Series returns after a hiatus in January to deliver another epic night at our favorite venue, Revolver.

Local line up will be announced on https://www.facebook.com/summerseries closer to the date.

Here's the standard artist bio, but I'm sure you remember the last time he visited Revs...

To open eyes, not ears to hear what there is to see -- just one of the many paradoxes Mainz-based Butch
manages to merge with verve. To capture the duality of his sounds that oscillate between under and over, techno and house, spirituality and marketability, club and home stereo, to celebrate the everyday high and question it at the same time, is just one of the many talents and specialties of this particular DJ and producer whose light shines from the Orient and whose future lies in yonderland.

This and much more is the starting point for a terrific second long player, released by proud and excited Bülent Gürler himself on his very own, newly founded imprint BOUQ. Leaving the flattering protection of his mayor label behind to spread his creative wings and fly around the world as free as a bird, the multi-facetted, Mainz-based producer, more self-confident and independent than ever, is presenting himself in the best party light.

Quadratically inspired, he dives into the diversity of 1009 nights, not only inviting well-known collaborators like the classical house singer Virginia into his studio but also a new discovery: the violinist Julie Marghilano who Butch met in London and whose musical talent strikes more than a chord, letting the enchanting “Feline” grow into a true master piece.

But open your eyes: Going beyond the obviousness of pleasant sounds and diving into the small print of the album, you will encounter a fascinatingly joyful details which turn the tight-knit sound carpet ride into a magic trip.

To take the tragedy of life with a pinch of salt is one of the biggest talents of Bülent Gürler. He manages to make the listener -- or onlooker, respectively --, smile about the biggest failures of our times, or even laugh about them. Not only is there a very deep intro which, thanks to Malcolm X’s moving words, creates hope of a different world, but also an outro based on a very moving story.

Looking a begging street kid straight into the eyes, the sometimes almost capricious Bülent was forced to a change of mind which led to a shift of consciousness. The random encounter catapulted him into a different frame of mind and marks him until today: the divine smile of the little girl is reflected in every happy person he encounters. and provides the motive to deliver a track which lets the listener/viewer become part of this transformation.

George Dubbya Bush was subjected to a transformation of a different kind, a revolution that has not been televised. Luckily, Butch was present, and managed to capture the moving words that would move around the world: “People of Iraq, go home and die”. Yes, this is the voice of evil, deliberately and uncut: “If it feels good, do it.” Utilizing a fine sense of irony to craft subversive messages: Nothing more than a cheeky shenanigan for Butch yet it adds more substance to the album, something people can deal with, or not. ‘The majority though,’ voices Butch critically, ‘prefers not to see beyond the surface. They are not interested in anything, totally indifferent to what is going on. It wasn’t always like this: a short film sequence which shows the execution of a student in the streets, was crucial to end the war in Vietnam.’

Butch did his best to run riot creatively; the interpretation is left to the people with the open eyes. ‘They are my favorite audience,’ adds Bülent: ‘‘Eyes Wide Open’ is an album for the weekend. After being fucked backwards all week long, people should enjoy their time off. They should only be aware that there are people who are fucked backwards even harder and who do not have a weekend to compensate. Every now and then, we should do something for those people.”

Martin Kay (aka Mountain Black) is a Melbourne based sound recordist, artist and designer who works with field recordings and cross synthesis processing to create hybrid noise, ambient, music-concrete and drone (electro-acoustic) compositions. His work focuses strongly on the environmental, atmospheric, spatial and textural aspects of sound composition. Greatly inspired by the use of sound in film and anime, Martin draws upon the construction and editing techniques within the soundtrack to produce hyper-real and abstract sonic landscapes.
Working in the realms of live-performance, composition, installation & sound design, Martin’s recent projects include collaborations with sound artists Darrin Verhagen (Shinjuku Thief) and Nick Van Cuylenburg, working on theatre productions with director Daniel Schlusser. Martin has also exhibited, run workshops and performed in Melbourne, Armenia, Georgia, Malaysia and South Korea.
