Awarded "Best in Marketability" in Josiah Wedgwood Design Contest 2012.

The new “Secret Garden” derives from the mystical feelings of the word “English Garden”. It is innocent, sweet, and nostalgic. “Secret Garden” carries on the elegant qualities of Royal Albert's Old Country Rose pattern, while adding a new sense of sweetness and dreamy feelings to the pattern. When the dinnerware is stacked, it resembles a blooming rose.

Awarded Golden in A'Design Award 2013

-"A tea set that is alive"

A tea set I designed using slip-casting technique. I was deeply inspired by my trip to Yellowstone and the practice of hot glass blowing. I was fascinated by the layers of travertine terrace formed naturally at Yellowstone. The irregularity of the layers reminded me of the pulling action that occurs when hot glass is being formed. However, my friend, knowing my love for parrots or any kind of birds, also reminded me that the set appears to be bird-like. The set is quiet, but alive at the same time.

earring
1.5mm square and 18 gauge round silver wire
Initially inspired by French corsets and Chinese Qing Dynasty binding feet, I incorporated the idea of body exaggeration into my earrings. During the making process, the material guided me through a series of design changes and concept adjustments. The Final form of the earrings drift away a lot from the original one, but I see it as improvements.

Derived from a series of paper folding, the project was inspired by I.M.Pei’s Bank of China tower in my hometown, Hong Kong. The piece is mainly construsted with the technique Scoring and bending.

A form exploration project. The paper-constructed shade, intended for bars or special theme restaurants, was inspired by my childhood memory of Chinese New Year's windmill from annual visit to temple in Hong Kong during the festival.

This chair celebrates the color and texture difference between two distinct materials, while bringing harmony with use of line weights and forms.
The frame and seating parts are produced separately using different methods and distinct materials. The chair is approachable, while presenting a strong personality.

Redesigning to introduce a new refreshing image of rocking chair. I incorporated striking, almost graphic-looking modern design with traditional-looking fabric. The chair is fun to have in trendy home environment!

The project is about bringing old objects into new emotions, or bringing old emotions into new objects. We often find ourselves having a difficult time to accept new things. How far would a person sacrifice what he/she knew for a new and bold design? Ironically, there are also items that we were emotionally attached to during our childhood that were gradually lost in the transition of time. The rocking chair was one these items. By reintroducing this category of chair to the market again, we would once more be reminded of our roots. Past memories should not be seen as burdens, but rather as a progressive refelction to our current livings.
