Amanda is a new boutique fragrance from the iconic Amanda Lepore, created by award-winning perfumer Christophe Laudamiel of Les Christophs.

For Amanda, Mr. Laudamiel aimed to capture Ms. Lepore's soft elegance, glamour and formidable strength with a fragrance that was larger than life. Amanda is both assertive for Ms. Lepore's public persona and tender for her private. The overall assertive blond-woody structure of the fragrance is bolstered by a revolutionary new molecular structure, Orriniff™, that imparts a warm orris amber tone and provides a softening platform for real and beautiful floral extracts like Tuberose absolute, Orris butter, Violet, and Orange flowers. The achieved smooth, velvety whiteness reminiscent of Amanda's white and soft skin combines with elegant citrus inspired from an Italian Renaissance elixir to give the fragrance a golden shimmer reinforced with a real sliver of Cristal! champagne. For quirkiness, there is a dash of cucumber and strawberry and a stroke of a red-lipstick accord.

The Amanda coffret is lined with black satin and includes the exquisite bottle decorated with over 1,000 Swarovski! crystals, a blush colored, satin atomizer, and a signed booklet featuring new photographs of Ms. Lepore by acclaimed photographer Nico Iliev.

The Broken Juice Glass is a limited edition set of four different glasses conceived by Roy McMakin exclusively for Artware Editions. For this edition, the artist has taken the simplicity of four small glasses and imposed on them a complex reworking of the aphorisms “THINGS CHANGE” and “CHANGE THINGS.” Because of their transparency and shape, McMakin is able to use the seriality of the glasses to play out a conceptual progression: the first glass is clear; on the second the phrasing is shown in its entirety on the front of the glass; and on the third and fourth the text is printed in a band around the glass but appears to be illegible. One must perfectly line up the fragmented text (a greater challenge from the third to the fourth) from the front through to the back of these to make sense of the parts. When the glasses are full the front text appears incoherent, but as the glass empties things change and all is clear.

Despite attention for imports like Filippa K and Soia &#38; Kyo, they also carry items from local designers.

<description>Manhattan transplants Brett and Karen Mascavage unload unique NY style for men and women in their pretentious-less Decatur shop.

The Scene
Atlanta is a stylish city with high-end shopping and boutiques rivaling many major metropolitan areas, and boy did we land one here. Decatur's DressCodes, a trendy spot without the trendy attitude channels SoHo shopping in the heart of Decatur. Local art appropriately dresses up the white walls, and turntables are on display when not being used during the store's art openings. Two adorable Boston terriers cautiously (and cutely) guard the door, and the owners are always there and always friendly.

The Goods
Striving to carry unique lines not easily found in Atlanta, the duo-owned boutique offers rare items from Japan, Sweden, Korea and L.A. Edging into a philanthropic side, they choose lines that often stand for something besides simply fashion, whether its a partnering charity or ecologically minded labels. Despite attention for imports like Filippa K and Soia &#38; Kyo, they also carry items from local designers. - Written by Jonathan Baker, CitySearch 2007
