Walking from Berlin to Bordeaux.
In 2006 I finally realized my dream of walking a long distance.
Traveling with this speed is unique and very special.
60 days, about 2000 kilometres, lots of beautiful places and interesting people.

A german language travelogue is available here soon
&
some impressions can be seen below

The city that attracts and disgusts me at the same time. So much.
The city that I have to leave frequently just to come back thankfully and full of love.
For the city of Berlin.

Sozialhelden is a berlin-based non-profit association. With our projects we draw attention on social injustices. We do not want to arouse pity but to show that social commitment is easy and makes fun. We think that everybody can be a "social hero"

Denn in jedem schlummern verborgene herausragende Kräfte. Diese zu nutzen, um anderen Gutes zu tun und dabei Aufmerksamkeit zu erregen, laut zu sein, gesehen zu werden. Das macht einen SOZIALHELDEN aus. Der Name ist dabei Mittel zum Zweck.

A company that shouldn‘t exist like that.

Referring to literature and wisdoms about how to found a company one usually gets the following advice: »Never found a company with friends. Never with more than three people. Invest all your time.«

We did what we had to do and founded an innovation consultancy with 30 friends in which nobody works more than three days per week.

Innovation is, when literature gets overtaken by reality.

Our consequent approach is the framework of what we call a true culture of innovativity. Our mutual appreciation for each other enables a working culture of happiness and optimism.

Our great number of co-founders and our diversity enables a 360° perspective on problems and solutions and the restriction on working time ensures steady creativity and a staff that is up-to-date in terms of their respecitve areas of study.

Innovation means crossing borders and discovering new ways of thinking. Dark Horse integrated this approach and conviction as a permanently challenge into the corporate culture. Innovators have to be radical.

Innovation is not delivered by mail. We started with ourselves.

This thesis claims that governments have a vital interest in what is called collaborative innovation. Governments do not have to “innovate” solely by themselves anymore in fact they have to reach out and integrate organisations and individuals of other sectors than political institutions.
