The process is not a linear flow: all the main activities (Meet the client, Internal meeting, List and order, Sketching idea, Prototype) can be repeated until you are able to make a decision and move forward. Along the whole process, there's another important activity: documentation. In order to explain and justify all the decision taken, designers need to describe every phases and keep a record of them. I use presentations quite often in order to keep focused my audience. I believe that images can be very effective to convey the message. I follow few rules to make my presentations effective: I tell stories using 3, 4 point per slide if I use images, they have to be related to the message I use presentation in many different situation and with different purposes. Concept presentation I create a concept for a client who asked for an application using his mobile technologies. I use presentations also to start talking about the client company, goals and targets. The content of this kind of presentations is a benchmark most of the time. In general, after presenting the benchmark results I asked my clients to rank all the ideas and cases that were close to their reality. So we start the conversation. To understand design boundaries I’ve interviewed many motiongraphers (50 people) and I gave them a questionnaire to get possible concept directions. This region is very special for its landscapes, local crafts and eno-gastronomic products. I joined Studio 21 for the end of the Workshop and my role was to show how to lead the user experience part, involving web technologies and social network dynamics. The whole group of students had already figured out User Needs and site objectives. Together we defined Functional Specifications and Content Requirements. I wanted to focus on information architecture and I gave them an overview of all the UX elements. We also analyzed our competitors focusing on the best practices (such as Intoscana case study) about Information Design. At the end, with Studio21 all the students put their content (worked with copywriters, videomakers, marketers) in a website using blogs, social network, and everything they considered useful for the Valdorcia promotion. We support a bright communication Cospatial is an European Project and I joined the project at its last year of financing. I had to learn what Cospatial is: a bounch of games based on CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) for Autistic Kids, on interactive surfaces. I was in charge to test the games in an ecological environment. I tested 2 different kind of collaborative games, based on 2 different kind of strategies. One is a capacitive tabletop (DiamondTouch) and supports Collaboration between two kids afflicted by Autism and a teacher (Join In). Here the system is aware about who's touching what. Thus, it is possible to assign roles and to encourage coordination between the participants. The second one (Sonic Draw) supports imitation games and allows to control different kinds of perceptual inputs, like sounds and images. For this one I redesigned its interface. Web Enlightenment. WeLight is an idea of Aidilab Srl, designed by Studio21, presented to the CES 2011 (video). The design of the product was realized by Studio21, who followed the idea to make a very simple object, a normal lamp, a new revolutionary product. All the internal components (powered by Texas Instrument) are assembled by Seco Srl and the software, based on Android OS, was developed by Softech Spa. I’ve worked on User Research (making Interviews and Questionnaires) and on the User Experience. User Research User Research is a very important part of a project. In this case, the User Research helps me to understand what features should be developed. I gave some images describing some potential features, without revealing any technological details.
