<description>This book is a collection of thesis from graphic design
students at UEL. A group of seven graduating students
teamed up and created a book that feautures each of
out dissertation works photocopied straight onto the
paper, keeping the original design and stylistic
imposition we each gave to our own thesis).

The design intervention was very little for this project.
In fact, all we did as a group was to work on the layout
for the cover and introduction pages, choose the
typeface, medium, form and binding to be used as
well as defining the methodology according to which
we would categorize and re-order each thesis work.

The cover features a word from each of the seven
dissertation. The word is typeset in the same way as
it originally was in each thesis cover. A superscript
number indicates the running order of the seven thesis
in the book itself, functioning as an index as well as
a footnote - where the full title &#38; author's name appear.

<description>My dissertation work, presented to The School of Arts &#38; Digital
Industries of the University of East London in January 2013.

This paper is an investigation into remediation trends in the realm
of contemporary art and design. The analysis will extend into
a methodology of the reuse of both the mere materiality
of technological media devices and their operative modes.
I will approach the topic under the umbrella of media archaeology,
a branch of media studies devoted to alternative media discourses.
Media archaeology is a methodical way for excavating repressed
or forgotten devices and remediation practices, as well as an artistic
modus operandi close to bricolage culture, software ⁄ hardware hacking,
circuit bending and other Do-It-Yourself ⁄ -Together exercises.

Read online.

selecting an holiday destination (accessibilty, air quality,

Part of a University project for which we had to create
and implement a new punctuation mark. n.a.n.o.
is a modular punctuation mark used to indicate
the characteristics of a text, or its metadata.
There are sixteen possible variations to the mark
and each variation indicate the soure of a different
kind of text (from a written letter, to an SMS, to a book
or a newspaper article visualized on a smart phone).

A writing system is an organized regular method of information
storage and transfer for the communication of messages
in a language by visually (or possibly tactilely) encoding
and decoding with a set of signs or symbols. These symbols
are known as characters and often include letters, numbers
and marks of various types. They are usually recorded onto
a durable medium such as paper or electronic storage.

Punctuation marks are symbols that indicate the structure
and organisation of written language, as well as intonation
and pauses to be observed when reading aloud. Certain
aspects of punctuation are stylistic and are thus the author’s
(or editor’s) choice, while others are drawing from centuries
of tradition and practice in the field of written communication.

The diagram shows the usage of some of the most common
punctuation marks among predominant scripts at the national
level in the world today - with a few selected regional and minority
scripts. While being as accurate as possible, this is solely one
representation of the widespread usage of a range of punctuation
marks currently utilised in the Western world. A few exceptional
marks have been added where relevant.

		<description>University project. Serigraphy.

Interpunctionis, latin for ‘punctuation’, is an informative project.
A range of punctuation marks currently used in different cultures around
the world are here collected. The scripts this signs belong to widely vary.
However, despite the great differences between the given writing systems,
the orthographical similarities are more than one would think.

The aim of this small project is then to show some of the key orthographical
differences between currently used writing systems and reveal some less
known marks. The collection is made up of: set 1 focuses mainly on those
marks ruling the pauses to be observed when reading aloud. Set 2 brings
light onto some interesting uncommon punctuation marks. In set 3 some
of the marks used when quoting and citing are represented. Finally, the
reading directions in different scripts and an image of the first known example
of punctuation marks usage in the history of humanity make up set 4.

<description>We Were Here is a collaborative book created by a few students
on a university field trip to Chicago, Illinois and Minneapolis, Minnesota,
in response to the experience itself.

I was part of the group who went to the USA and I contributed in the
creation of the book (print run of fifty). My contribution to it was a folded
double spread with a map of the two cities and a description of two
remarkable experiences there.
