		<description>I designed an identity, some banner artwork and a promo video for a new club night in Dublin. The banner artwork has varied sizes (hence the mad looking gallery below) and styles. This was to echo the three different rooms and styles of music in the venue.

		<description>I was in charge of promoting the 2010 vis-com graduate exhibition. I produced invitations, posters, a broadsheet catalogue and website.
&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/468920/web2_640.jpg" width="640" height="425" width_o="800" height_o="531" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/468920/web2_o.jpg" data-mid="2113728"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/468920/poster_640.jpg" width="640" height="425" width_o="800" height_o="531" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/468920/poster_o.jpg" data-mid="2109582"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/468920/invite_640.jpg" width="640" height="425" width_o="800" height_o="531" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/468920/invite_o.jpg" data-mid="2113307"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/468920/paper1_640.jpg" width="640" height="425" width_o="800" height_o="531" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/468920/paper1_o.jpg" data-mid="2113309"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/468920/paper2_640.jpg" width="640" height="425" width_o="800" height_o="531" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/468920/paper2_o.jpg" data-mid="2113310"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/468920/paper3_640.jpg" width="640" height="425" width_o="800" height_o="531" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/468920/paper3_o.jpg" data-mid="2113313"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/468920/paper4_640.jpg" width="640" height="425" width_o="800" height_o="531" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/468920/paper4_o.jpg" data-mid="2113314"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

I printed the invitations on 360gm Somerset paper in the letterpress workshop and sent them (3D glasses included) to over 150 Irish and international companies. 150 letterpress posters were printred on 40gm newsprint paper. They were then flyposted around Dublin city.

The catalogue (a 24 page broadsheet newspaper) was sponsored and printed by the Irish Times. 3D imagery was used throughout the catalogue and website.

You can view the website here: www.ignorethiswebpage.com

This gallery shows some of the process invloved in putting the project together.

		<description>I designed an identity for a 3rd year NCAD media exhibition. The exhibition was a collaborative effort into the exploration of idea creation. There were 16 artists.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/144631/01_1_640.jpg" width="640" height="425" width_o="800" height_o="531" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/144631/01_1_o.jpg" data-mid="2113651"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

The concept is based primarily on the idea that when an idea is created a lightbulb goes off in your head. As there was 16 artists as part of this collective, i wanted each to have a part of the one outcome/identity. I chose to break/perforate the lightbulb into 16 sections, much like a page of stamps.

As part of the project I put together a website so that the collective could allow people to read and understand the concept of the exhibition.
You can view the website here: www.darkroomexhibition.com

I also produced posters, invites and flyers to promote the opening of the exhibition.

		<description>This brief was set by DCoy.
3 designers/artists from 3 seperate fields were chosen as subjects for a new range of Taschen books called "The Favourites Series".

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/123114/new_640.jpg" width="640" height="425" width_o="800" height_o="531" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/10174/123114/new_o.jpg" data-mid="2114527"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

The concept for this series was to have covers that would be both visually appealing and tactile. The embossing is central to the concept. A relevant typeface was used for each designer/artist. American typewriter was used for the body copy, as it is a personal typeface and it helps to strengthen the handmade quality of the cover. The band of colour on each was chosen to match the ribbon marker and landscape format was chosen as it lends itself to the art book style.

		<description>This is a sample of the motion and video work I have produced.

Folk : Transitions:

The first four videos are portions of a six part collection of poetry by Dublin poet Tony Curtis, entitled "Folk Transitions". Video work was shot with a Canon 7D around Wicklow and Dublin, motion and sound design produced digitally.

Seven Watercolours:

When I Lay My Hand:

Dog's Bay:

The View:

Catcher in The Rye:

I was asked to produce a title sequence to a book that i have read. The catcher in the rye automatically sprung to mind as it is a small, fast paced book. I tried to illustrate the main characters return to NY city on the train and then introduce the rest of the cast at pace, as reference to the speed to which the main character meets several different people in a short space of time.

I used a serif typeface (Bembo) as it allowed me to zoom in and crop more dynamic shapes as the animation progressed.

The Music is an edited version of "Dead Bodies" by Air which is taken off the album "The Virgin Suicides".

		<description>For our final brief, set by Zinc, we had to deisgn an identity, poster and layout for the Upstarts exhibition.

I wanted to play on the fact that we are named "Upstarts" as part of the program. In responce I proposed to name the exhibition the "Cheeky Little Upstarts Exhibition", to play on the fact that we are supposedly that. I wanted to come up with a short, humorous tagline to emphasis our presumed pomposity. "It's an elitist thing. YOU wouldnt understand" seemed succinct.

I wanted the poster to look retro and quirky to emphasis the idiosyncratic theme.

		<description>Our first brief for the ICAD upstarts programme was from Language.

We were asked to design a blog/portfolio site which could be used to showcase our design portfolio, design work that interests us and links to websites we visit on a regular basis. I designed and constructed the blog within dreamweaver, which allowed me to tailor the sites appearance to my own liking. I wanted to keep the blog (www.msprnt.com) and my portfolio site seperate. The portfolio site runs on cargo.

		<description>Our third brief was set by Red Dog. We were asked to design a poster for Family fun days that are to be held at the National Print Museum.

I drew inspiration from the 1916 Proclamation of Poblacht na hÉireann which is hanging in the Museum and antique newspaper advertisments. I felt the poster needed to look authentic so I printed an alphabet of woodblock type in the letterpress workshop in NCAD and scanned the letters for use on the poster. As the primary target audience would be young families and children I tried to make the illustration on the poster playful with their reference to the specific days being held at the museum.

The poster is double sided A2 folded down to A5 for mail out purposes. It folds out like a booklet and the images are designed to lead the viewer through the poster and onto the back. The poster was printed on Cyclus offset 70gsm which helped to reference back to the newsprint stock which would have been originally used, it also was easier to fold down to A5. </description>
