<description>Packpulse is a student initiative started by North Carolina State University students for use in the dorms. The project worked with the Student Housing to help students be aware of their energy use through analogies and interesting diagrams.

Multiple dorms on campus used this system got students involved by funding a monthly competition in which the dorm with the smallest use of energy won a prize for their rec room and bragging rights for the following month.

<description>Working with a group of engineers at North Carolina State University, I was tasked with creating a vehicle wrap for their sustainability competition. They were one of only sixteen teams to compete nationally in the ecoCAR Challenge sponsored by General Motors and the Department of Energy.

Having completed the first year preliminary challenges, the team at NCSU called upon my services to design a vehicle body wrap. I was inspired by their efforts transforming an originary gasoline powered car into a electrically energized vehicle. I used the concept of electrical components and parts to arrange the logos of the companies that sponsored the event while maintaining their specific branding rules and guidelines.

<description>Working with North Carolina State University's Center for Universal Design, Helen Dear and I were tasked with designing a traveling exhibition on the research and contributions that NCSU's research extension had done to aid those born with or otherwise developed physical impairments due to age or accident.

Over the course of several months, we became familiar with the dense material and began the process of creating a visual hierarchy that intrigued the viewers and would be legible for viewers with varying ability. Using icons, subtle patterns, color coding information, and creating information graphics, we created a cohesive and informative display.

The result was an exhibition inspired by the life of NCSU alumnus and founder of the Center for Universal Design, Ron Mace. The exhibit honors and highlights the work he and his team pioneered from getting government legislation passed to designing housing that could accommodate people of any ability.

For more information on universal design and the display please follow the link.

<description>Reflecting on my own struggles adapting to studio life, I thought it would be helpful to survey all levels and majors in the student body within the College of Design.

Asking them questions about everything from dealing with stress in studio, inspiration, dating with majors, and even what they thought about our Dean, Marvin Malecha (is he a wizard?)

I designed a yearbook style, compendium that informs prospective students what to expect in school pursuing a degree in design. The book would be issued as a handbook to incoming freshmen to aid in their transition to studio life.

The persona was a eccentric Finnish designer named Koy Malikisouli who enjoys working primarily off the computer. I made an studio promotional mailer that promoted and showcased his work.

<description>This project was part of a themed exhibition put on by Stephanie Jansen, Flights of Fancy. Considering what my impressions of design school, I constructed birds from motifs within the five disciplines within NC State University's College of Design. The idea was taken from the old proverb "birds of a feather flock together." Design school causes us to flock in little groups of common interests and shared experiences, similar to birds flocking together. Common designers enjoying common interests.

<description>Part of a larger exhibition promoting an after school program called Hip Hop Haven, my fellow classmates and I each took on a part of the exhibition.

My part included event promotions which was a poster and an event marker. In the spirit of the hip hop culture I experimented with mixing spray paint and conventional printing. The end result was a interesting artifact that was blurs the line of street art and graphic design.

It was published on the AIGA website.
