I loved the perfect feel and imagery that Sofia Coppola has lent to Jeffrey Eugenide's melancholic tale I wanted to mimic the same sentimentality and nostalgia in the story and translate it through the packaging itself. I felt like since the film has been decorated by beautifully commonplace objects such as rosaries, stampitas, sticker-covered notes, candles, and old photos, I had to work with those tangible elements for the packaging. Being a huge fan of Mexican imagery and the holiday itself, my bones absolutely jumped at the chance to get to paint a freaking skull. A motherfrakking skull, my dears. I can't.
