Created in collaboration with Jonny Sikov. Our project was inspired by childhood amnesia. We were curious to expose the experiences that triggered the beginning of our memory recordings. We collected audio recordings and details of each participant's first memory. Formally, each memory is represented by a circle. The darkness of the circle's locus is dependent on the emotional intensity, and the diameter is dependent on the participant's age. When a memory is selected, the corresponding audio recording plays, and a collection of concentric circles pulses in response to a combined variable of the emotional intensity and audio levels. The project aim was to redesign myUW, a site for UW students that handles academic affairs. Our aim was to redesign the site to be more relevant and adaptable to student needs. Our process ran through site planning, wire framing, click-through mockups, and light-weight development. My solution focused on only providing the student with what they needed and wanted to see. A module-based interface allows the student to choose desired features, and hide anything unwanted. Lighter weight modules (such as college radio, news feed, and student card balance) sat fixed on the right, whereas the heavier weight modules scrolled on the left (registration, schedule, campus map)with anchored navigation through the fixed menubar on the left.
