		<description>Repeating patterns
An initial design for a repeating pattern was simple interlocking three spur propeller shapes.

&#60;img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b284/Mike105e/Cargo/Pattern01.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"&#62;

Then I modified the initial design by adding radius’s to the shape and creating 3 lobes that could interlock with each other.

&#60;img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b284/Mike105e/Cargo/Pattern02.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"&#62;

This reminded me of a supercharger screw so I further developed it by adding a mixed radial gradient to create the impression that each one has a machined face.

&#60;img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b284/Mike105e/Cargo/Pattern03.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"&#62;

Esher inspired repeating pattern where the shaded sides give the impression of depth on a cubed corner, yet the way the pattern interlinks means any 3D shape perceived by the viewer would be impossible.

&#60;img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b284/Mike105e/Cargo/Pattern04.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"&#62;

By simply changing one set of the shapes into one solid colour, gives the impression of a perforated sheet suspended within the net pattern.

&#60;img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b284/Mike105e/Cargo/Pattern05.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"&#62;

Applying different gradients to each third of the shapes to gives the impression that they are a metallic finish. The use of shadows also enhances the illusion that the tips are going under the ached edge.

&#60;img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b284/Mike105e/Cargo/Pattern06.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"&#62;</description>

		<description>Text over photos
A personal holiday photo capturing the water ways in Fort Lauderdale with the addition of a typeface that suits the feel of the image.

&#60;img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b284/Mike105e/Cargo/Miami.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"&#62;

Text over photos
This photo was taken in the departure lounge of Heathrow airport. Using my own font design and vectored aircraft image I tried merging a basic retro logo with the ‘dated’ architecture.

&#60;img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b284/Mike105e/Cargo/Heathrow.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"&#62;

Text over photos
A detailed close up of two straight cut gears, with the addition of a word and graphic to enhance photo.

&#60;img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b284/Mike105e/Cargo/Precision.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"&#62;

Text over photos
I spotted this VW Beetle in America and thought it showed off all the styling cues of a ‘Californian Look’ Bug so I tried adding some suitable typography to the image that suited the look and feel of the scene.

&#60;img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b284/Mike105e/Cargo/Callook.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"&#62;

Text over photos
On my visit to the small Caribbean Island of Grand Turk, I took this photo of the decommissioned Lighthouse. This time I wanted to overlay a distressed font to symbolise the weathered look of the exterior.

		<description>Pasta Project
A group project where the brief was to build a spaghetti bridge that spanned a meter and supported 1 house hold brick. However it must fail after a second brick was added. Fortunately the design supported the first brick, and unfortunately imploded after the second brick was added.

&#60;img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b284/Mike105e/Cargo/pastabridge.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"&#62;

The Vending Machine
A mechatronics project involving circuit board design, manufacture and PIC programming to produce a vending machine that accepted one coin, rejected another would dispense a sweet and indicate to the user when the stock was empty.

&#60;img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b284/Mike105e/Cargo/vendingmachine.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"&#62;

Lighting project
Another group project where we had to create a brand and design and manufacture a mood light. Our brand was Fata Morgana (a mirage on the horizon) this inspired us to develop various lights that create optical illusions. My concept was a frame that encapsulated an array of tube lamps between a mirror and a one way mirror. When it’s viewed through the one way mirror the infinite reflections give the impression of an endless corridor of light travelling into a void.

&#60;img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b284/Mike105e/Cargo/light.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"&#62;

JCB contextual
This was yet another group project where we chose JCB to research as a brand and look at conceptualising a new avenue for them to pursue. One this thing that stood out from our research was JCB’s interest with charitable work where construction equipment has been donated to help clear up various natural disasters and develop areas in deprived countries. As a group we looked at creating a more hands on tool that can be left with the people long after the construction equipment has left, and would help improve their lives on a day to day basis.
