<description>An exhibition about an account of an investigation

- A bachelor project in collaboration with Karin Hedqvist and Siri Lindberg

"A buildning is always a building, it becomes architecture when you start talking about it"

This is a project which comes from a an idea of a method and a way of working. We started without neither site or program but with a fully planned and thought out process. The process became the core of the project and the core of the process was our podcast. Every week we have recorded one episode, an interview with a person connected to a theme which comes from one of the 10 knowledges Vitruvius (an architect 3000 years ago) thought an architect should have. The podcast is a new (for us) way of communicate and investigate architecture and in reality try how architecture can be communicated?

How can architecture be communicated?

Can architecture be communicated by a building?

The core of the architect is its education. If the university building does not communicate, will the architect(student)s? If the university building is sharing, and open, will the architect(student)s become the same?
This (our) university building was half burnt down two years ago. During our process we have made a proposal for how to rebuild it and to help us share our work, life, spaces and ideas with the city.

The video shows our process when building and having an exhibition about our research process in an enclosed and fire damaged room right in the core of the Stockholm architect university building.

		<description>London Metropolitan University, 2010
Tutors: Aleks Catina, Joni Steiner
Course: Design project

Site: a little cafe down the river, close to where Regents canal cross Kingsland road

The brief was to choose a specific site on a given, location. Then to add something that would enhance or reduce or just make a change to the site.

My site was a café, with one large table only, where all the guests had to sit together. I what intrested me was peoples behaviour around this table, how did they act towards eachother and how do you feel if you sit around this table by yourself compared to beeing there with someone. I ended up making three different pillows , akward pillow, lonesome pillow and friendly pillow. They all have their way of changing a specific behaviour, which will then lead to a change of atmosphere around the whole table.

Friendly Pillow helps 2 people to sit and talk more comfortable with eachother.

Lonesome Pillow works as a barrier and makes a single person feel protected.

Akward Pillow tricks you. When a person sit dow on the pillow, it tips and the sitting person suddenly happens to sit dow a little bit to close, hopefully touching, its neighbour. This will create an "akward moment" and lead to en exchange of words between these to.

The Ultimate Pillow occurs when you combine all these pillows into one single unit.

<description>KTH-Arkitektur, Royal Institute of Technology, 2012
Project 3, 2nd year
Tutors: Elizabeth Hatz, Rumi Kubokawa

Site: Lidingö, Stockholm

”The traveler roams around and has nothing but doubts: he is unable to distinguish the features of the city, the features he keeps distinct into his mind also mingle. He infers this: if existence in all its moments is all of itself, Zoe is the place of indivisible existence.”
Cities and Signs, Invisible Cities, Italo Calvino

”Memory is opposed to all change.
Architecture has a memory.
Architecture is a memory.
Memory expands shamelessly, occupies the mind, kills the imagination, fossilize places. Memory, a dangerous word.”
The limits of memory: for a chritical architecture, Claude Parent.

This is an investigation how one can form a place free from expectations and preconceptions. And from that, lead the visitor into complete awareness.
If the space is not what it’s supposed to be, it’s what it is. You, as a visitor will not be, within that space, what you’re supposed to be, but what you are. And your acts will will becom what you do, not what you’re expected to do.

About my Fritidshus (holiday home)
You walk towards a concrete wall, which belongs to a volume that contains one room, that can only be reached by the wind. The volume is placed in the middle of a crevice and there is a passage on each side. The visitor picks one of the passages and they both leads into a non-heated room without doors. From here one walk down an outdoor staircase following the mountain and ground, protected by a roof, hung between two other roofs. The visitor enters a wall with two doors, one leads you inside and the other outside. Outside is a south facing bench and the ground is covered with gravel, there is a staircase leading up towards a door in the mountain. The door goes to a room wich is a corridor that doesn't lead to anywhere but ends with a window facing the inner of the mountain.
By the door that leads inside you first enter a room wich is ”a space without function, not: without any precise function, but precisely without any function”. Then, through a passage with northern light from underneath one enters a bigger room with both a sea and a mountain view. A bed is placed in the middle of this room, it can be pushed in, pulled out, draged down and can house from 2 - 6 people. During the night this is where everyone in the house sleep and therefore all the house's energy is collected. The last door is behind the bed, it's narrow and goes to a room with no walls or roof, but with the best sea view. This room has a fire place to heat you up during cold nights and windy days. The back of the fireplace contains a hose for showering.

Course: Project 1, 1st year
Tutors: Weronica Ronnefalk, Bure Berglund

Site: Tatooine, Star Wars

The brief was to make a design for a robot(Droid) storage at Tatooine, Star Wars.
I started by working with crocheting as a structural technique. Exploring ways of how it could structurally be used in a building as both a load bearing as well as a spatial element. I ended up by using two different techniques and structures, crocheting combined with braiding. The robot storage became braided tunnels in very thin pieces of wood, hold up by a crochet in string(tjärsnöre). The storage is then fastened between a cliff and the ground. It is portable to follow the needs of the Javas.

Course: Colour, material, space

Site: Spring House, Holloway Road

The brief was to change a given space inside the Spring House building by using the terms colour, material and space.
Inspired by the artist Olafur Eliasson and the "parking day"- event I made this proposal for a new way of occupying this non-used, almost forgotten corner. A creation where our home made artificial moss is taking over the school building and make room for other ways of using this space.

Project 1, 2nd year
Tutors: Elizabeth Hatz, Rumi Kubokawa

The brief was to move the existing Östermalm firestation to a new site at Östermalm, Stockholm. Also include an additional program to the site and the firestation-building.

I started by looking at shadows, how shadows define spaces and how the site is seen during night time, only by shadows.
I have then used the way of how shadows define spaces and organised my site and ground after that. A patchwork made out of light and dark fields is now placed along the site. This has been a way of creating a connection between parts of the site that are currently separated. When building up my firestation I used the method of patch work and started in an allready existing building. I then added the building volumes that was needed, and finished off the patch work with a new ”dramatentrappa” to create a connection between the fire station and the theatre, Elverket, Dramaten.
“Dramatentrappan” together with light and dark fields (artificial shadows) work as public spaces. You can understand how the stairs are made by human for a clear use while the artificial light and shadow spaces are meant to create spaces that are made by human but feels like they are not.
The buildings facade is a play with boundaries, where does the fire station starts and where does it ends? Some inner parts of the building are visible from the outside and openings are placed so that
you can, if you’re lucky, sometimes view the firefighters when sliding down ther pole or running towards the cars. The out door car wash is placed visible for by-passers and the fire fighters breakfast terrace is separated from the inner public courtyard only by change of ground material and millimetres in height difference.
