WHAT’S THE WORD ?

Ok.
To start with: LEKRMOI is not a word in any language. So you are free to pronounce it however you like.
The origin of the word comes from two Dutch words:

LEKKER | delicious, tasty, nice, pleasant
MOOI | beautiful, pretty, handsome

Our style is playful but worked out to perfection. Not holding on to the past too much gives us a refreshing factor. But most important; being social. We really enjoy collaborating with other creatives and building relationships with our clients. We love coffee, tea, milkshakes and vanilla chai-latte meetings. Understanding who we work with and getting on the same page is very important to us. And fun!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHERE ABOUTS ?

Everywhere.
We live in a century where it is possible to work from anywhere on the globe, so we do. At the moment we are based in Wellington, New Zealand but being portable like an iPhone, iPad or a plastic bag from your local supermarket allows us to be in New York, London or Jeruzalem next week.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT WE DO ?

Good question. Thanks!
We have been real busy in the last few years figuring out what exactly we do at LEKRMOI. Our creativity is always expanding and changing into new shapes & directions. We are constantly exploring new parts of the world, the creative world but also literally, the earth.

We are specialized in three directions:

FILM

- documentary & film making; shooting, writing, editing, pre- and post-production & directions
- animation; for music video’s, film titles / credits, commercials

ARTWORK

- original artwork; for sale, exhibitions, galleries, musea
- illustration; for posters, postcards, album covers, websites, books, clothing, magazines, articles, video stills, etc.

LIVE VISUALS

a special portable drawing kit we build allows us to draw anywhere, LIVE! Using a projector to project onto almost any surface we bring light to the world, colorful or B&W. At night or indoor during daytime. We have done this at multiple locations* around the world. We can perform together with any band, artist, DJ, VJ or just on our own. At gallery openings, fundraisers & clubnights.

* performed in: Australia, New Zealand, The Netherlands

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHO'S BEHIND IT ?

Art Director & Founder

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/87072/1743295/__prof_pic.jpg" width="360" height="361" width_o="360" height_o="361" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/87072/1743295/__prof_pic_o.jpg" data-mid="9050676" border="0" align="left"/> name: Ruben P.W. de Haas
born: at home in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 1 9 8 8
home: Fitzroy, Melbourne, Australia
now: Cuba St, Wellington, New Zealand

likes: Smiling to strangers on the street.
dislikes: The three lazy super-sized people in Las Vegas that were sitting on scooters, eating massive ice-creams and blocking the way.

“I create in all ways, shapes, days.. Whenever I take a break, I still bring a sharpie and draw on that damn break!
After traveling the earth for years and creating many homes away from home it became clear that life is able to be lived in this fashion. We are not limited anymore to the one friend group, house and city. With the modern technology it is possible to work from anywhere with anyone. I can live and work around the world, all year long.”

” Ruben is primarily an illustrator, cinematographer and clothing designer. Heralding from the European capital of cool (Amsterdam), his ability to stand out from the crowd and turn his circus trained monkey hands to just about anything (video production, event planning, tattoo design, web development, animation, VJ’ing, ukulele playing) means that at the tender age of 22, a blindingly bright future awaits. Yup, just 22, it’d make you sick if he wasn’t so lovable! “

VIDEO

Here is a selection of our film, video and documentary work.
We are NOW taking on commissioned work and collaborations, so please contact us.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 2 of the amazing Nebulophone project. Thanks to Benny Tones for the audio mix and Rich Decibel for lunch.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Call him a mad scientist, call him a musician, call him Rich Decibels. I call him genius.
He makes usable & unusable instruments from junk and scrap. And not only do they look awesome, there is also a nice message behind his creations. Today I meet him to make a Nebulophone.
What the hell is that, you say? Exactly why I made this video. Enjoy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our world has many talented people walking on it, on of them: ALPHABETHEAD.I was asked to shoot some footage of what turned out to be a bloody amazing show. Alphabethead ft. Tourettes & Jay Roacher rocked the house ... well it was a bar, eitherway it was sick!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Concerned Citizens organized a photo exhibition to raise money for the photographers of Active Stills. This is a collective of Israeli and Palestinian photographers that try to show the unseen situations in the occupied territories. The exhibition was a succes. Enjoy the video, it gives a good impression of the night and the mixture of people that were present. The edit was tough and took all sunday, but its good enough to watch it at least a few times.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tiddabadés - Cherry (Official Video)
I was asked to edit & direct this video New Zealand Band Tiddabadés. After their final tour they wanted to give something to their fans. A final video as a tribute to their musical tour trough Japan.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a music video for Danco. It's not finished yet but I do want you all to see what I'm up to. Hope you enjoy it so far and please come back soon to see the final cut.
Shots in Wellington and Melbourne.
Animation and edit with Flash, Adobe Premier and After Effects.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just a promotions video, for some new artwork I made. I want to try make a whole music-video in this flashy, trashy, vegas style of words. Words: "Nobody Om Me Heen" translated: "Nobody Around Me". Some days here in my Wellington studio I lock myself in and get productive.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Early 2010, we shot this mellow coastal video about my friend Scott Cottrell. This young all round creative professional loves the surf.. So we follow him to various phenomenal spots to overlook the big blue sea. Shot in San Diego, California, USA.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today we did a vibe shoot for band "Sunken Seas". They are working on a new record coming out next summer. Shoot was at their new recording studio on Cuba St in Wellington, New Zealand. More to be released, soon!
