The words have been plotted together on a traditional x,y graph to create the resulting shapes. This series has grown to include a strong influence from the ideologies of Traditional Chinese Medicine, most specifically the relationship between opposing forces, or the concept of yin yang. To create this body of 162 drawings I developed a list of human emotions and character traits and paired them each with an opposing sentiment. The pairs were then plotted on a traditional x-y graph where numerical values are replaced by the English alphabet. The values are arranged both in traditional order along one axis (a,b,c…z) and then according to frequency of occurrence along the other (e,i,a…z). Frequency was calculated from the list of 324 unique words used in this series. The words are then plotted one letter at a time and are connected by a line in the order that they assume to form the word. A chorus of men and women in their 60's and 70's, supported by a small and wonky brass band shouted out an incredibly impassioned song in unison. The air was so filled with love and happiness and just pure energy that I started to cry. created through the use of both Finnish and English words; the specific words are chosen through a lottery system I that I have developed and selected from stream of consciousness lists that I develop daily. I plot the letters of the words as coordinates on a graph that features letter frequencies (from most commonly used letter in the alphabet to least) in Finnish and English, along the x and y axis. The letters are plotted as coordinates and are joined by line in the order that the letter appears in the specified word. Each drawing features one English word and its Finnish counterpart plotted along these parameters.
