<description>Trusted online educational source Lynda.com is an established leader within the creative and technology industries. As an exercise I rebranded Lynda by dropping the '.com', creating subtle and relatable marks for the brand, and then applying it across the system. I decided to retain the use of yellow as well as the font Avenir, but to change their use dramatically.

<description>Being a huge fan of old black and white movies, I am enamored with the odd atmosphere created in this 1922 classic. In an attempt to capture the overall feeling of the movie, I tied stills from the film itself to a noirish map of Europe showing approximately where the events would have taken place. I started with a transcript of the film, broke it down into its core elements, and only then did I begin creating the poster.

<description>SWAN is a nonprofit connecting women in the states with women in developing countries through microloans, changing the lives of women everywhere. I wanted to create an identity that was feminine, subtle, and refined. The use of green and purple provided a feminine touch without being overly obvious. I had a very difficult time getting past obvious swan metaphors for the logo, but the resultant hand-painted logo was a playful experiment with negative space and suggested form.

As an exercise, I went about creating an alternative view of Washington that was whimsical and hand-made. All of the collateral revolving around the 10 second motion piece I created. The set of four tabloid posters fit together.

Created in Flash, this website attempts to emulate the feeling of a rainy seattle day just after snow through stop motion shorts tied to points on a map of my journey.
