Collaboration with Japanese shoe brand, Japonista Sole. They wrote to me to offer partnership because they liked the creative photo shoots I do with my friends. My friends and I were more than happy to say yes because we absolutely loved the shoes! We were psyched to be chosen to represent them and help promote the brand.

Here is one of the shoots we've done for them. It's based on the universe of the My Chemical Romance album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. “The killjoys are the survivalists, the one trying to bring the truth, no matter how bad it is, thus being a “killjoy” in the literal sense, destroying the notion that everything is perfect as BL/i portrays it to be. Their world is dirty, fast, colorful and violent – abandoned buildings, graffiti, brightly colored masks, ray guns and biker jackets. It is unknown if the killjoys are the heroes or the villains – they are just trying to survive and get the truth out there.”

<img src="http://payload58.cargocollective.com/1/3/118722/3479363/killjoys-jinjoson_1000.jpg" width="900" height="1350" width_o="900" height_o="1350" src_o="http://payload58.cargocollective.com/1/3/118722/3479363/killjoys-jinjoson_o.jpg" data-mid="17960227" border="0" align="left"/>
We put together outfits inspired by the killjoy outfits worn by My Chemical Romance (designed by Gerard Way and Colleen Atwood).

We were so psyched that we even managed to shoot our first video project together!
Footage was shot by Erving Go
Directing, editing, and color processing by me
Quality is better if you watch it on YouTube: Killjoys, Make Some Noise!

Let's Make Things Right Again
1st Place, Disney's "Picture Yourself In Wonderland" Art Competition

This was my entry to Disney's contest for Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland, in which the participating artists had to draw themselves in the world depicted by the movie. I chose to draw myself as the Mad Hatter. The Mad Hatter is a character that fascinates many people, for many different reasons. But what I liked and could relate to with Mr. Johnny Depp's portrayal of this iconic character is that he was given a sense of humanity. There's more to him past the crazy antics and the bizzare exterior which most people don't take the time to see. Deep inside, what he wanted most was to do his part to make things right again.

<img src="http://payload58.cargocollective.com/1/3/118722/3479354/tekkencollab-jinjoson_1000.jpg" width="700" height="1071" width_o="700" height_o="1071" src_o="http://payload58.cargocollective.com/1/3/118722/3479354/tekkencollab-jinjoson_o.jpg" data-mid="17944354" border="0" align="left"/>
Tekken Ukiyo-e: Lars and Alisa

This is a collaboration I did with Miguel Mercado. He drew the figures and layout elements in pencil, and I digitally inked everything, drew the background, and did the coloring.

Miguel and I got the motivation to work on our own ukiyo-e style illustration of Lars and Alisa because we loved the traditional woodblock print-styled images of some Tekken characters in the artbook (from the Tekken 6 Limited Edition Wireless Fight Stick Bundle).

Miguel designed these new outfits for them. The inspiration for Lars was Masashi Kishimoto's design for his extra costume, but we kept a bit of his default look with the hair. I colored him with Kishimoto's palette in mind - red, gold and black. Because of her jetpack that resembles wings, we figured Alisa could be some strange variant of tengu, a form of monster-spirit that were once depicted to have avian characteristics. I followed the color scheme of her default outfit and incorporated parts of it into the patterns, like the blue roses.

I was selected as one of the four featured young artists for Clinique’s 2012 Spring Makeup Collection launch in an exclusive VIP event held at Whitespace.

We were to interpret the theme "You as a Work of Art" because the new makeup collection was meant to capture women as works of beauty and art. Another interesting bit about this was that we had to use the provided makeup products in the creation of our artwork. Along with the watercolor and pencils I used in my work, I used their foundation, eyeshadow and lipstick.

I had the great honor of contributing work that was featured at the Design Festa Vol. 35 at Odaiba, Japan.

I worked with Japonista Sole, a company that produces traditional Japanese footwear with a contemporary twist. I'm actually a big fan of their shoes so it was such a fantastic opportunity to be contacted by them to do promotional work for their brand.

This is one of those shoots my friends and I do for fun. It would be a dream to work on some actual movie posters, though!

In our free time we like to work on costumes, and these are some of the ones we had done.

<img src="http://payload57.cargocollective.com/1/3/118722/3444912/mulanposter-jinjoson_1000.jpg" width="800" height="1164" width_o="800" height_o="1164" src_o="http://payload57.cargocollective.com/1/3/118722/3444912/mulanposter-jinjoson_o.jpg" data-mid="17941289" border="0" align="left"/>
My friends and I made costumes based on Disney's animated film, Mulan. I had the idea that we could make a poster in the style of Chinese epic dramas. I had so much fun shooting and processing this!

<img src="http://payload57.cargocollective.com/1/3/118722/3444912/captainjacksparrow-jinjoson_1000.jpg" width="850" height="1250" width_o="850" height_o="1250" src_o="http://payload57.cargocollective.com/1/3/118722/3444912/captainjacksparrow-jinjoson_o.jpg" data-mid="17943869" border="0" align="left"/>
And here is Miguel as Captain Jack Sparrow. He was very meticulous in getting all the little details of the costume, and I really wanted to be able to capture them. (Although at this point, he insists he isn't happy with his costume yet.)

He really liked this photo of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack by Annie Leibovitz, so I said I could make him our own version of it. Erving took over the camera at this point so that I could art direct to make sure all the costume bits were in place, and keep my eye on the light and shadows. This was shot on a plain studio background, so I composited the entire background. I started with an old photo I took of a sunset, and it just went smoothly from there.

<img src="http://payload57.cargocollective.com/1/3/118722/3444912/mulanposter2-jinjoson.jpg" width="599" height="900" width_o="599" height_o="900" src_o="http://payload57.cargocollective.com/1/3/118722/3444912/mulanposter2-jinjoson_o.jpg" data-mid="17941292" border="0" align="left"/>
A more somber Mulan poster, inspired by the Chinese film starring Zhao Wei. Shot again by Erving and processed by me.
