"Accure" is a medication trolley designed for use in nursing homes. The added value of Accure against an ordinary medication trolley can be found in the system where the medication is automatically presented on the work surface. This warrants this product a more accurate medication distribution that benefits both the patient and a more pleasant work environment for medical personnel.
Reducing medication errors
Medication errors are still the main cause of harm to nursing home residents, with skyrocketing costs as a result. Because of this fact there was an opportunity for a more automated product. The trolley uses a robotic pick and place system that the right medication for the corresponding resident can be selected from the cassettes andcan be served on the work surface. This method ensures a flawless journey where there is no possibility for confusion among the residents and
their medication.

Medication Cassettes
The medication trolley works with medication cassettes that can be placed in the trolley. The trolley has the possibility to transport two cassettes, who can provide medication for 12 residents each. The cassettes and medication containers and their associated location are memorized by a unique barcode so that they are traceable to the medication distribution. By working with interchangeable cartridges, it is possible to quickly change the patient group to operate. In this way the medication trolley to serve a large number of residents, and stay active when other medication containers filled
by nurses.

Interface as an accompaniment
The interface is designed in line with the existing patient record software. It provides assistance to medical personnel during a medication round: a better patient identification, to verify the medication according to the rules of "the seven rights". Which will consider various factors that should be correct: the right resident, drug, dose, route, time, reason for administration and finally
the documentation.

Everything within reach
It is important that the care staff is working in a structured environment where everything is within reach. With the Accure medication trolley, attention was paid to transactions in which many elements as possible within the prescribed scope.

The development of new phone based applications, beyond voice calls and basic text messages, is causing a new gold rush. Most mobile phone services in rich countries have revolved around trivial things, but in the developing countries data services could provide enormous economical and developmental benefits.

Livestock provides a wide variety of goods and services in Sub-Saharan Africa. These goods and services provide income and support the livelihoods of millions of poor people in the developing world. In this field – in which the user oriented strategies and concepts are designed – allows us to improve both community and individuals, which brings up our goal in this challenge: “Fighting poverty and boosting economy by efficient livestock farming.”

Two Directions
Our service approaches livestock improvement in two directions, animal management and grazing management. The benefits of genetic improvement (animal management) in theory can be noticed after one offspring, significant increases in performance can only be measured after years of selective breeding. To successfully sell our application it is essential to introduce a short term benefit. This short term benefit can be found in grazing management.

As the central communication tool we use a mobile phone. The created service works via WAP or Voice XML. All information gathered will be stored in user account databases. These databases can be seen as one giant list of variables that are filed in based upon the answers or decisions made by the user.

The introduction and explanation of our system will be done by a an instructive board game. The main goal of this game is to give the livestock keepers insight in the workings of the system and transfer knowledge in an attractive way that is accessible and understandable to everyone. The sign up to our system will take place in cooperation with local banks. We can rely on the trusted counselors of these banks to perform the registrations and the distribution of ear tags. In return of their delivered services, the cooperating banks will receive a compensation/payment. It is important for the illiterate livestock keepers to have a appropriate counselor with them, they rely on proper guidance to fill in registration.

By conducted research we tried to define the problem in all its aspects, with a clear focus on the feasibility of the project.

Following the conclusions of trend watchers such as Watts Wacker and Faith Popcorn, The future of the added value of products will be laying more in the experience of using it, instead of only in the performance, design, optimization and personalization. For this assignment we were trying to follow a progressive path, by thinking of future systems, whose base is still in the current technological possibilities. So rather an exercise in which the boundaries are shifting.
Steam is a experience that uses projections in combination with infrared structured light. It uses different systems as a platform, like a screen of fog, based on the technology of fogscreen inc. and a gesture detection system, inspired by the abilities of the Microsoft Kinect concept (codename project natal at moment of design). The choice to use the boundary material “fog” as display can be motivated by the fact that a 3D holographic projection with a good integration of the user, is probably still a long way off. Steam produces a interactive fog wall to get in “touch” with different cities in the world. Depending on the area where he steps in through the fog, the user chooses a city where he will get a realistic view (made of webcams and add-on effects). The user can walk forward and backwards to zoom in or out to see more details of the city. It’s about making plans or preserving enjoyable memories of past trips, With an emphasis on the possibilities of emotional advertising, using it as a promotional campaign for citytrips.

A good photo bag has to meet the basic customer requirements and has to differentiate itself from other products to be appealing and economically interesting. After touring around several photograph shops we came to the conclusion that their is still a empty hole in the specific market of photo bags.
In this case we used the technology of today products to start with, to reach the basis customer requirements. The unique selling propositions differentiates our product from similar products. Together with two fellow students I created a fictive luggage brand for photographers: Geiger. The responsibility over the Geiger Breslin laid down in my hands: the more agile and super compact family member with space for a DSLR and an additional lens.

The Breslin is positioned as a technical and ‘aimed on speed’ bag, with the ability to mount onto the legs and the back. This combination of carrying position gives the comfort that a explorer photographer needs. The Breslin is supposed to prevent theft even better. It is designed to protect the valuable goods inside, and sustain your freedom of movement during transport and shooting. This makes the photographer a dynamic person during work. The padded foam gives the right support to the back and leg when carrying heavy loads. The adjustable system which is integrated in the bag can expand from the circumforence of the leg till the forward grip reach. To meet the necessary ergonomic requirements, the shape of the bags is designed to fit onto the size of people from the 5th till the 95th percentile.
By focusing on the combination speed and anti theft, we prepare photographers to be ready “Before the Moment,” allowing them to capture those historic moments that reflect their personal visions and artistic talents.

The target group of the created respiration mask consists out of children from 9 to 11 years old. This group also is labeled as “Tweens”. These young people are on the eve of their puberty, and already want to have a distinctive image. Products for this target group should be usable without help of adults. In this way it is possible to teach the children to be independent, and learn to handle with a rising amount of responsibilities in life. The design brief described to design a product that is easy in use, with an important accent on the stigma free factor while wearing the mask.
Different colors and paterns
The conclusion after an observation was that several masks on the market have shortcomings. Many of them still use irritating rubbers around the head and have a bad connection around the nose, which allows to breathe unfiltered air.

The created respiration mask is made of materials that are suitable for use with body contact. It consists of several elements which allow to change the look and make easy filter replacements possible, so the mask itself has a long shelf life. The child breathes easily through the perforated neoprene and filter. The valve in the front is shaped to exhale without pressure. The enclosure is made of a neoprene material, which provides many options: securely connection, all colors and patterns are possible and it’s aesthetically not much different from clothing fabrics.
For comfort, the hasp is designed with a velcro system, making the mask adaptable to the head.
To motivate the user to protect himself, the experience of wearing a mask like this should be at least not perceived as burden for the child, but unlike a gadget that other children might be jealous of not having one.

People often forget that also a healthy portion of fruit can give the body a boost. Eighteen percent of the Belgians do not eat fruit and nearly one in two Belgians eat only one piece of fruit a day. This is not enough. Fruits are packed with vitamins, minerals, protective plant compounds and fibres, which make them a great source of nutrients. The challenge of this assignment was to make a fresh and attractive package to stimulate buying fruits.
In the context of a fictional local government campaign, this package is supposed to be distributed in the supermarket, to encourage eating fruit. 3fruits4free combines three citrus fruits in one package. With this package it is possible to pack the fruit in a minimum amount of time. Besides it’s flexibility it provides a certain firmness for transportation to protect the fruit.

Over the past decade there was an increasing trend of wheelchairs that are adapted to the user needs. Several wheelchairs specifically designed for children have been produced, resulting in the fact that they don’t need to sit in too mature, gray and bulky wheelchairs anymore. However, many products on the market today have a lack of the appropriate combination of compactness, lightweight and folding ability. This combined with a user experience that makes sitting in a wheelchair less mentally and physically difficult, is an unseen given. Its design is intended for rental and sales market.
The Chameleon is supposed to expresses itself as a modern looking, lightweight wheelchair concept for children at the age of 9-12 years old. Children of this age often prefer sports wheelchairs over standard wheelchairs because of their behavior and dynamic looks. The presented concept combines the handling and looks of a sports wheelchair to the folding nature of an ordinary wheelchair. After unlocking the frame, the supervisor of the child can fold the chair in one handling. Another feature is the quick-release mechanisms (fig. above). They allow disassembling the wheels from the frame in only a couple of seconds. This makes also the wheelchair transportable in small cars. The chair takes into account the main ergonomic requirements. It has changeable seat positions and an adjustable foot plate height to make it for every user a comfortable experience.

To respond to the desire of the child, the chair is available in different colours. Other features are bags which are integrated into the chair: Lycra sacks on the frame of the chair and an optional bag at the bottom of the chair. There also is extra space for two small pockets on the sides of the seat cushion.

This wheelchair is designed to reach places where other wheelchairs fail. The hybrid low rolling resistance tires provide a great grip. The oversized wheels easily overcome obstructions. Because of the easy handling, the child is still able to play.
