CLOSPA

ʘ London October 2013

✎ Dabo Chen, Delfina Fantini, Niklas Hagemann, Lise Pape, Rodrigo García González

☄‘Clospa’ is a suit bag within which an item can be ironed using steam. Our product incorporates existing technologies into a new setting in order to meet market demand of fast, effortless, efficient ironing. We have found that the main function of an iron in smoothening clothes is determined by heat and steam, and the sole plate is used as a conductor to spread the heat. It is therefore not essential to have the pressure on the clothes, but rather to spread the heat and steam.

The ‘Clospa’ bag allows the user to 1) put shirt or suit (on a hanger) inside the bag, 2) choose the fabric of the item on the dial on the bottom left of the front of the bag, 3) fill the water tank on the bottom left of the back of the bag. The item will take between 9 minutes to steam inside the bag, at which point it will be ready. While it is steaming, the user is free to do the other morning routines, such as showering, shaving or brushing teeth.

The ‘Clospa’ technology is a heating element combined with a water tank. We use the existing iron technology of the bi-metallic strip thermostat in order to reach the desired temperature for a given fabric. The bag is supplied by electricity, and we estimate that it will use 4.3 KW per item of clothes.

The bag will contain 3 layers of material. The most inner layer will be nano fabric, containing a one-way vale system, which transmits water from the steam out into the middle layer. The middle layer will provide insulation, and will be hydrophobic, so that the steam and water stays within this layer, and does not travel further out. The insulation will also be for safety, so that the user can safely touch the bag from the outside when in use. The outer layer will be for protection, and this can be customized to each user, with different models available.

☄ Toothmate is a new concept of toothbrush. Doesn't requires water, toothpaste or the use of the hands to brush. With these features combined with his small size allow to clean the teeth in any circumstance and performing simultaneously any other task. Toothmate is composed of a silicon body which is adapted to the denture and travels over it vibrating. The mechanism of vibration is activated by saliva. On the silicon body is adapted a removable sheet with filaments that contain a capsules. The capsules dissolved release a liquid that contains cleaning agents. This fluid can be swallowed, leaving in your mouth a fresh feeling without using water or rinsing.

The concept of the toothmate is inspired in the way some animals establish symbiotic relationships with other species to clean their teeth. How, for example, the small bird called Egyptian Plover who gets food from the teeth of the crocodile. Or the shrimps or pilot fish who clean the teeth of the sharks or other larger fish so both species benefit from this relationship. Another clear reference related with the way of using the toothmate and their size are the Swedish "snus", a kind of dipping tabacco to use everywhere that avoid the smoke of the cigarette.

The Product development follows two lines of research. On one hand the size reduction of vibration mechanism which allows toothmate moves inside the mouth. Furthermore, the research to find a minimum batteries made of carbon and magnesium which would we load through saliva and that don't contain mercury or other noxious materials of the conventional batteries.

Nosetraga serie is a furniture serie that try to clonate furnitire with homemade process using food garbage! Bon apetit!

Charwing Gum<img src="http://payload76.cargocollective.com/1/5/189181/3829753/Chairwing-Gum.jpg" width="200" height="134" width_o="200" height_o="134" src_o="http://payload76.cargocollective.com/1/5/189181/3829753/Chairwing-Gum_o.jpg" data-mid="20126061" border="0" align="left"/>

And you? Where do you stick your gum after chewing it?
In my country most of the chairs have gums under it. Use this uncivilised act to create a new chair, that is the main idea. To make it possible first, apply a release agent to the back of the chair. Second when you have chewing gums under it use the fixer to harden them. And then you can take away the original chair and use your duplicate gum chair. You can repeat this process all the times that you want, and also adding more gums you make the “chairwing gum” grow and grow.

☄ Hop is a suitcase that follows the user. Represents the next generation of luggage, the following. The suitcase contains three receivers that are able to receive, identify and triangulate different signals coming from the user's cell phone. A microcontroller interprets these signals calculating the phone's position regarding to the suitcase. The same microcontroller operates a caterpillar system based on compressed air, which follows the user at a constant distance. If the signal is lost the user is alerted by the vibration of the phone and suitcase locks itself. The bags can be programmed to follow one to another or are controlled jointly by the staff that handles the baggage at airports or stations. If a suitcase can move by itself, besides facilitating the lives of a large number of travellers, families, disabled people, ... could also spare all the elements that moves externally the baggage (conveyor belts , carts, ...)

The clearest reference are the bellhops, people who moves the luggage of a few privileged customers. With current technology that is present today in lawn mowers or automatic vacuum cleaners, a suitcase can embed the function of the bellhop.

The calipo house is a basic shelter for one person. The heart of the house is a platform (3x3x5,2 m) that takes its function depending on witch level it is at, and a wall that offers the functions. The program is organized vertically, depending on the level of light and privacy required.

A hydraulic system moves the concrete platform in the same way as a elevator. It functions with a remote control that enable liberty of moving between the different levels. The roof has it’s last layer in the same nature of the site, so when the house is unused is hidden in the wilderness.

☄ ZIPIZIP is a patent pending system (P200901789) to make high-rise buildings deployable. It is based on a transportable “scissors” structure that, when open, is supplemented by different elements to make it livable. The advantages of this construction is the speed with which it can be assembled and dismantled, so you can use the same building for different contexts. It is perfect for use during major events such as the Expo or the Olympics because it enables an increase in the density of a city or the temporary colonization of new land. It also enables the rent or exchange of infrastructures, mobilizing the actual static real estate market. ZIPIZIP is the result of research on deployable structures, and how they can be distributed not only horizontally but also vertically. After working with prototypes, the ZIPIZIP system has been applied to a real context: a building with offices, facilities and housing for a construction company that is drilling tunnels for the high-speed train in Spain. The building can be moved forward at the same time as the construction. The result is a tower consisting of 734 aluminum bars and 1167 junctions. There are only 6 different types of junctions and bars so it is easy to industrialize the product. The whole structure can be transported by a single truck and the total weight of the building is 147,325 kg. When erected it becomes an eleven-storey tower with a surface area of 210 m² per floor. When folded up, it is a package of only 5.46 x 8.12 x 4.82 m. This means a reduction of 78% in surface area and 97% in volume.

☄ The basic idea of the Warm Wheel is to use a bicycle wheel to transport, heat and pressurize water to have a shower everywhere. This concept could be suitable for people who have to move to great distances to get clean water for hygienically use. At the same time it transport 16 liters of water inside the wheel while a 12V hub dynamo is heating it up. The pedaling motion mechanically produces pressure by a peristaltic pump for a 12 minutes hot shower. Pedal and shower!
