<description>Yopine is a micro-polling app that provides a fun way to share opinions and make decisions quickly with your personal circle and/or the general public.

As the Senior Designer on the project, I worked with the client to define features, identify gaps in the decision-making app marketplace, and shape a unique, product that would fill this gap. Yopine focuses on easy decision making and idea gathering among friends, while laying the foundation for public perspective, social energy, and engaging data visualization.

I began the product design process by sketching: First, core functionality to get the dev team started, and next, ideas for various features that would help the product to be fun, easy to use &#38; unique. From there we identified the key features to move forward with—I shaped these into a "big idea" to present to the client. Once we had signoff on the concept, I moved into defining the app structure &#38; wireframing key screens, creating just enough documentation to keep the dev team moving. As I did this, I worked with the design team to establish a visual language for the app, working quickly &#38; iteratively as features were added and subtracted for the MVP. I also wrote copy, defined all necessary states for the Brainstorms &#38; Polls, and worked closely with the dev team to implement features. I wrapped up the project by leading the art production efforts and visual QA tasks.

Just three months after we started, Yopine v1.0 debuted in the App Store just in time for Tech Crunch 2013, where it gained early attention from The Unofficial Apple Weblog: Standout iOS apps from TechCrunch Disrupt 2013.

*The sketches at the end show some early exploration I did surrounding data visualization and broader interface concepts.

<description>The LEGO Movie Maker app allows kids of all ages to bring their LEGO creations to life in their own custom stop-motion movie.

As the Senior Designer, I was responsible for the integration of new features like user-created audio and adjustable frame duration into the latest release of the app.

I began by getting familiar with the existing app, recording my own stop motion movie &#38; making note of where the pain points were (it was pretty hard to make a dramatic pause in my story line without being able to change the frame duration!). I then started sketching ideas about how to change the duration of a frame and also how to allow kids to record their own sound—I came up with several levels of technical complexity as possibilities. I shared these sketches with the dev team and made adjustments based on their feedback. From there, I created wireframes representing the various levels of complexity &#38; presented them to the client. Once the client selected the desired direction, I coordinated the visual design &#38; production of all the affected screens. During this time period I also iterated on the wireframes to include additional features like editable title &#38; sound effect/dialogue cards.

*The sketches included at the end show some exploration I did around how to approach the editing of a movie's title card.

<description>I served as the creative lead in the redesign of the web presence for bambu, producers of top-quality, handcrafted, and sustainably sourced products for the home. The redesign served to meet the needs of their expanding customer base, including retail, wholesale and hospitality customers.

As the creative lead, I was responsible for the design of the project from end-to-end. The project began with a user story session, working with stakeholders to define the features that would be going into the site. Next, I conducted internal user interviews to better understand the needs of the retail, wholesale &#38; hospitality customers. I created an initial sticky-notes-on-the-wall sitemap based on the stakeholder &#38; user feedback as well as the features defined in our user story session.

After assessing all the features identified in client conversations (and the technical requirement surrounding them), we decided that a responsive, Shopify-powered backend would give us a powerful &#38; easy-to-maintain framework for the site. From there, I created wireframes and established a site structure that leveraged Shopify's strengths. I moved quickly into visual design, setting a visual system that reflected the bambu brand voice. I worked iteratively with the dev team to implement the designs, making sure that it worked across platforms, tweaking as necessary, and then wrapped up with all associated art production and visual QA tasks.

<description>Fly Delta for iPhone (version 2.0) was released as a component of a completely re-imagined suite of cross-platform digital products including iPhone, iPad, airport kiosk, and a website for Delta Air Lines.

As Senior Designer, I worked to evolve to the look and feel of the Fly Delta app, incorporated new features into the visual design, and worked closely with other teams to ensure that the design was in step with other digital components being developed in parallel.

In version 2.0, the following features were added:
• Find, compare and book flights
• Add your eBoarding Pass to Passbook
• Purchase Economy Comfort and other seat products and Trip Extras, including in-flight Wi-Fi, Priority Boarding and more
• Manage your trips, profile and transactions, and customize your travel preferences

<description>Logo designed for Telegraph Audio Mastering, a full-service mastering studio located in Portland, OR.

The logo plays upon the relationship between the telegraph and Morse Code—the series of bars at left spell out the letters "T-A-M," the acronym for the company's name. The typeface used is reminiscent of that used in International Morse Code tables.

<description>Fly Delta for Windows Phone is the latest addition to the suite of Delta Air Lines mobile app offerings. Available previously for iPhone, Android &#38; BlackBerry, the WP7 release of the app provides the same functionality as the other platforms while leveraging key features of the Metro design aesthetic (clean and crisp type-based design, live tile support and full color photo background panoramas that change according to your next destination).

As the Senior Designer on the project, I established an aesthetic that brings together two distinct brands, creating an app that is clearly a Delta product, but also an excellent example of Microsoft's Metro design system. I took on the project without any prior experience working on WP7 and worked (along with our user experience lead) to become a resident expert on designing for the platform. I also directed junior designers on production tasks.

Download the app from the Marketplace

<description>Concept, illustration, poster design, website re-skin and banners done pro-bono for the Bicycle Transportation Alliance's 2011 Bike Commute Challenge.

"Since 1995, the BTA has offered challenges – and rewards – to bikers and businesses when they bike to work. The BTA’s annual Bike Commute Challenge is a friendly competition — workplace against workplace — with benefits for companies and individual cyclists when employees bike to work during the month of September. The workplaces with the highest percentage of commutes by bicycle during the month win!"

In August 2011, the re-skinned and more robust website launched and opened for registration. The launch was supported with a multi-media campaign promoting the program and encouraging folks to log their progress on the website: Email basts were sent out to previous participants and BTA members to announce the opening. Later that month, posters were mailed out to 12,000 individuals at businesses, non-profits, and public organizations across Oregon and SW Washington. Banner ads are planned for KGW.com and Portland Mercury.com.

The BTA's 2011 Bike Commute Challenge broke all previous records: More than 12,000 individual riders from 1,450 workplaces teams in Oregon and SW Washington participated. Together, participants logged over 1,360,000 miles of bike commuting. More than 2,000 participants identified themselves as new bike commuters.
