looked to push my work as far as possible visually for the D&AD Student Awards; the most recognised awards for Design, both professionally and within education. Selecting the Ted Baker brief I had to relocate the outlet to a different location, selecting South America & more specifically Rio de Janeiro in Brazil to present the brand in a polar opposite location from what it is accustomed to. YCN : Peacock's. Bacardi YCN provided myself with a platform and set of briefs to work from for two years of my degree, working on another retail brief with Peacock's and to re-brand Bacardi for a target audience I am directly a part of: 18-24 year old males. As Peacock's was facing trouble financially it became even more important to push the brand visually with the theme of pride being prevalent within my work, avoiding obvious modelling of the clothes and attempting to let the history of the company speak for itself in context through type based posters with striking photography that attempts to convey emotion instead of a superficial image of the clothing. Bacardi however needed to be refined and directed towards a mail audience with minimal copy and information that could become tiresome and lost in the eyes of the target audience. Minimal, clean and concise imagery, engaging point of sale and designed glassware that reflects the history of the privately owned drinks manufacturer that has led it to the level it is at today. Penguin & Puffin : One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest . Grimm's Fairy Tales . The Big Sleep . Wind in the Willows Varying target audience's meant that the designs needed to appeal to age groups that altered for each age group, maintain interest and not reveal to much of the subject matter included in the content of each piece of printed material. It was a big learning curve for myself, maintaing a strong association with the story yet remaining original with the elements included, all aiming to engage and entice the buying public.
