To count down the days to the theatrical release of Dr. Seuss' the Lorax (which, by the way, falls on Dr. Seuss' birthday), Universal Pictures decided to post a special piece of Seuss-themed content each day on the movie's Facebook page. The campaign was called 60 Days of Seuss. I designed this Facebook tab used to aggregate the 60 posts in a central archive.

The Branding Farm had just completed a redesign of the websites for Edward Thomas Collection's three hotel properties when they hit us up for step 2. Now that the desktop sites were up to date, it was time to make sure the hotels were mobile-friendly.

We began with Shutters on the Beach, a lovely hotel in Santa Monica, CA. Our goal was to remain true to the Shutters brand while crafting a get-in/get-out functional experience. I handled IA, UI/UX, and design. The design has since been repurposed for Hotel Casa del Mar and Canary Santa Barbara.

2012 is the 100th anniversary of Universal Pictures. That's not just 100 years of any old company selling any old product. It's 100 years of Jaws, Do the Right Thing, and E.T. 100 years of Jurassic Park, The Sting, and Vertigo. It's 100 years of iconic movie moments and the memories we all have of them.

I was heavily involved in the concepting of the Universal 100th site from all angles - the brand positioning, interface, content strategy, and general campaign strategy. I handled all UI/UX for the site and worked closely with our art director and developers to bring life to my wireframes. I also handled the majority of design revisions and direction of social elements like the campaign Tumblr and Facebook tab.

GOOD Magazine had a partnership with Levi's in the works when they asked me to design this infographic. As any wearer of Waterless Jeans can tell you, Levi's loves water conservation. Thus, the subject of the infographic: ways to save water at home.

Fun fact: when Alyssa Milano tweeted a link to the infographic on GOOD.is, views skyrocketed. It's now one of the most viewed infographics on the site.

When Los Angeles' So Many Wizards asked me to shoot a music video for their tune "Inner City", I happily obliged. They're good friends of mine, and I love their music. The video features John Davies as an employed twenty-something under the influence of Falling Down. Shot entirely with a Snorricam, we follow him as he wanders aimlessly around LA.

After countless IM conversations about where we should eat lunch, my coworker, Bret Morris, and I figured out the perfect solution: Squaremeal. This iPhone app pulls in a user's Foursquare checkin history and offers a random restaurant in a set radius from their current location. It's perfect for indecisive types or anyone who likes rediscovering old favorites. Squaremeal is currently in development; stay tuned.

Paramount Pictures called on the Branding Farm one day at the behest of a very important young man: Justin Bieber. With over 25 million likes on Facebook and more than 10 million Twitter followers, to say JB has some internet presence would be a massive understatement. So when we were asked to pitch on the DVD release of Never Say Never, we answered back with a campaign to fit - turning the DVD's release weekend into a full blown holiday for Beliebers.
The #NSNweekend headquarters were a microsite that allowed Facebook users to RSVP for a huge global viewing party event as well as create their own private viewing parties for their friends.

On May 6 things really kicked into gear. For an entire week everyone who confirmed their attendance was given a daily exclusive party favor. Content ranged from Sweetart Smoothie recipes (Justin's favorite candy, of course) to a special NSN Google Chrome theme to a life-size poster of the Biebs. The most popular party favor? A personalized Twitter skin, autographed by Justin just for you.

Additionally, we created a Facebook app, Pic Me JB, which allowed users to take a pic with JB in which they're jointly forming one of his signature hand-hearts. Roughly 3,000 people a day used Pic Me JB to show their love, many of whom took it to the next level by setting it as their profile pic (myself included).

I contributed to the creative strategy on #NSNweekend, developing the concept of the campaign by working closely with the rest of the Branding Farm's creative team. I also worked extensively on UI, developing wireframes and user flows for both #NSNweekend and Pic Me JB. Lastly, I created most of the original party favors given out to the many Beliebers who RSVP'd.

An important design element on Shutters' website is a central area, shown on almost every page, that is used for full browser width video or photography. I devised of a videography style that emphasizes serenity and timelessness. Everything is slowed down to a dreamlike pace, broken only to be slowed even further during a few particularly evocative moments. All shots transition with smooth fades rather than hard cuts.

A secondary video style is used on the Shutters on the Beach homepage. This one is quite simple, yet striking: a still shot of the hotel at dusk. A moody cyan sky complements the windows, illuminated with golden reflections from a gorgeous LA sunset. People pass by, jogging, strolling, cycling, ambling - you get the idea. The homepage video is a subversion of the traditional exterior architectural photo; it's a photo come to life.
