Some information on the artist Chuck was born in 1982 in an overgrown village somewhere among the moors and peat bogs in the north of the Netherlands. Where he spent his formative years climbing trees, drawing, reading and cycling a lot. All activities he still regularly practices. He attended the Artez institute of visual arts in Kampen, graduating from the department of illustration in 2004. After traversing the country a couple of times with all his belongings, he left the Netherlands in october 2010 and is now living in Portland, Oregon. He's represented by Stephen Barr of Writers House. In 2007 he received the Fiep Westendorp stimulation award from the Fiep Westendorp foundation, which was intended to let young illustrators be able to work on personal projects. He has been featured on Drawn.ca, Pikaland and Spike Jonze's blog: Weloveyouso.com, and recently on Thefoxisblack.com Chuck likes: Cats, books, cooking all afternoon, Small furry things, damp forests, Breughel, Terry Gilliam, old towns, doodling, deadly cakes, grotesque puddings, creepie crawlies, books, big trees, ancient puppets, scary rabbits, books, almonds, ginger, typewriters and did he mention books? Chuck vehemently dislikes: Cars, cell phones, advertising, cauliflower, cheap bread, ugly book covers and getting up early. 3.
