Piece 1 - "Song" This particular piece we wanted to include found typography in an array of random objects. The composition is based around a record "beneath the willow tree." The numbers that surround the record are numbers off of the record's central piece. The cards are from a card game we found by the name of "liar's poker." The typography and typographic decoration was found from a title page from a small sheet music handout. By far the most abstract piece of Experiment One. Piece 2 - "Limited Edition" Limited Edition is centered around the piece of sheet music that we clipped from to make song. There are clipouts from magazines that we used including photos and found type. The border of the central piece is made up from a record cover that contained a pattern. The background is made up of layered sheet music on which we staggered Lil' Wayne lyrics, crossing out obcenities. This piece was aimed at putting a modern twist on an old school canvas. We wanted to bring something new to the table, most music back in the day didn't need to be censored. Now there are songs that can only be played on the radio if there is a "radio edit" version. Piece 3 - "Download Here" By far one of our favorites, Download Here is a piece representing the broken market of the music industry. Everything now can be downloaded with a few simple clicks. The piece was made from a record, a pattern-based record cover, a clipping from a record sleeve, and a library card/holder.
