Based on the simple ethos that everything has potential and nothing is trash, The Treasury is a monthly jewellery fixing and re-creation workshop.

Participants are invited to bring along broken or un-loved jewellery and found objects, to fix or re-create into something new and unique.

This initiative is an opportunity to re-connect with the idea of community and to exchange skills, materials, thoughts and inspiration.

The Treasury is about sustainable fashion – moving away from ‘throw-away’ culture and leading towards a new savy way of fashion where if something breaks, you fix it. Simple as that!

Bookings can be made via emmagrace.bigcartel.com

		<description>The Repair Workshops
30th-31st July 2011 - Donkey Wheelhouse Melbourne

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/116997/1759506/ExhibitionsProjects_TheRepairWorkshopsA.jpg" border="0" width="558" height="374" width_o="558" height_o="374" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/116997/1759506/ExhibitionsProjects_TheRepairWorkshopsA_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62; &#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/116997/1759506/ExhibitionsProjects_TheRepairWorkshopsB.jpg" border="0" width="510" height="374" width_o="510" height_o="374" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/116997/1759506/ExhibitionsProjects_TheRepairWorkshopsB_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;

The Repair Workshops was an exciting artistic exploration into the idea of repair.
The project challenged us all to think about how products are designed to break so easily and why we are losing the ability to repair.
We worked with St Vincent de Paul and the Brotherhood of St Laurence to rescue broken and un-loved items destined for landfill, and asked members of the public to donate items in need of repair to the project.
Our 8 technical and creative collaborators then took over the basement of Donkeywheel house for 2 days of closed collaborations to repair and transform broken and unloved items into functional products or even into crazy works of art!
All of the works created were exhibited and available for sale with all proceeds going to Environment Victoria.

The Repair Workshops took place during the State of Design Festival 2011.

Young Melbourne designers, Emma Grace and Ellie Mücke invite you to be inspired by their novel approaches to making new from old. Through the Wearit exhibition and workshops, the designers aim to facilitate a shift in the way that we consume fashion items.

The general public is invited to participate in a workshop, bringing along broken, un-loved and out of date jewellery and shirts to fix or re-create into something new and unique. Simultaneously an exhibition of new works by Grace and Mücke will provide inspiration, challenge conventions and offer new perspectives.
