Dainty Chocolates

This was my final packaging project from last year. I was supposed to create 5 different packages for one chocolate company. I was given the name Dainty and was sent on my way. I ended up creating a few extra pieces.

The logo is a hand-drawn logo, created by me after a series of complicated sketches. The packaging color varies slightly depending whether the chocolate is dark, milk, or has extra flavor. Dainty currently features two bags of chunk chocolate, two types of sprinkles, wafer straws, hot chocolate mix, and two chocolate bars.

Blood Of Jove

Blood of Jove is the wine label project I did last year. I was told to create a label for a Sangiovese wine. I took this to heart and started to research the meaning behind that particular wine. 

Sangiovese means Blood of Jove. Jove is another name for Zeus. Zeus has on his shoulders two ravens, one for thoughts and and one for memories. The pomegranate is because the base of this particular wine is pomegranate, so I thought it would be interesting to have a raven claw clutching a pomegranate. 

The image is an illustration done by me. As a last minute touch I added a red wax seal on the top with was dripping down the sides.

Seattle Bar Safety Campaign
Pro-Bono for the Seattle Police Department
May 2012

My concept was to go for a Retro appeal. I wanted it to be for a large demographic ranging from 21- late 60's. Both men and women will find this approachable and intriguing. The "Remember" is hand-drawn and then digitized. I wanted to emulate classic sign painting. Neutra was used for the accompanying type. 

The project features 5 posters, 1 full page and 1 half page ad, 1 coaster, and 1 3'x3' stencil design. It also includes a 30 second commercial.

Cinch Apparel Branding

My concept was born out of the mineral structures of crystals and the patterns and growth within each structure. I took that idea and drew out a linear graphic that is more abstract and better received as a t-shirt or decal graphic. 

The brand features three bags and three iPhone cases in three colors. 

I also made a logo for the umbrella brand of 'Cinch'.

Trove: A collection of valuable and delightful things.
For my BFA Capstone Project for Cornish College of the Arts.

I investigated collecting and design and how they are related to each other. Collecting is the gathering of objects to be presented or displayed. By collecting, the collector is designing a system. What she looks for, how she looks for it, and why she collects what she collects is a product of a system. Designers do the same thing with their designs. They form systems. Designs and design process are similar to my collections and my system of collecting. 

I hope my project reached the designers, like me, who struggle to understand and/or explain their process to others. If I explain their process as a system, their explanations will improve and their design and productivity will improve. The system is a mental one, formed by personal work ethic and inspiration. Inspiration and work flow come from the psyche. 

My project investigated the psyche of both the designer and the collector and how they are alike and different. I want to dissect the mental attitude of both, and use my findings to explain the complex systems in which the designer/collector operates. I want to explore how the philosophies and systems of collecting drives the designer and the products of that designer.

Personal Infographic

I have always had a record in my head of where I was and when. It wasn’t until I created a linear narrative that I could wrap my head around the strange way that time is represented in the mind and the impact of certain time periods and their effect on my perception of time. It was mind boggling. 

I chose the colors and the type in order to try something new. I had always chosen colors based on the client/assignment, I had never gotten the opportunity to use what I consider to be my favorite colors. I chose a palette that is both dark and happy. I wanted it to show that though most of my life experiences may be angst ridden that I look at them fondly and would not trade them for the personal growth because of them.
