Dominic Gill is a 31 year-old British environmental scientist and adventurer. Through his mother’s influence, mountaineering and rock climbing became integral to Gill’s existence at a young age. He considers it his first love and has journeyed all over the world in pursuit of the great mountains, including the Eiger. In his teens, Gill focused his sporting life on rowing crew both in high school and in college providing him with the discipline necessary for undertaking incredibly taxing journeys. Formally educated at Imperial College London, Dominic’s degree in biology supports his outdoor lifestyle affording him the ability to understand nature and communicate to others what he encounters when in the wild. After college Dominic moved to remote Northern Canada working extensively with the Dene people learning to hunt and dwell in complete isolation. In 2005 he quit his day job and decided to pursue fulltime his dream of filming life in the great outdoors. While he was launching his career as a film director Gill used his skills to serve as a mountain guide in Peru and Tanzania. At that time he also became a certified rope access engineer. In 2006 Dominic began his cycle touring journey from the top of Alaska to the bottom of Argentina, on, of all things, a tandem, inviting random strangers to hop on the rear seat and help him pedal south. Understanding the potential of this experience over the next 2 years, he created his platform of Inclusive Adventure. No Doors, No Windows to block out reality.....and a spare seat for someone join in!

<description>A year after Dominic completed his first Take A Seat journey, he wrote a book about the two years and two months of adventures he'd experienced, the people he'd met, the places he'd been, but most importantly, the kindness he'd experienced. The book has no been published both in the UK (Mainstream Publishing) and the US (Falcon Press).

"A voyage to the heart of what it means to be human. Read it. Cycle with Dominic, and you'll be a better person for the ride."

<description>On Dominic's first Take A Seat project from Alaska to Argentina, he met one elderly gentleman by the name of Ernie Greenwald, in Lompoc, California. Ernie was once a keen cyclist, but Lymphocytic Leukemia and old age had seen to it that his dream of cycling cross country was all but forgotten.
Now with a wealth of experience cycling a tandem, Dominic set about planning a journey from LA to New York, in which they would cross the country together. Sadly, a worsening of Ernie's condition beat him to the starting line and he was never able to make the journey. However, in Ernie's honor, Dominic crossed the country with 10 intrepid individuals, each with a disability that would make a leg of this journey impossible for them alone. Take A Seat: Sharing a Ride Across America was aired on NBC Universal Sports in April 2011. Click here to view trailer

<description>At the tender age of 25 Dominic embarked on his first documentary film Take A Seat (a project which remains to this day the biggest) from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, approximately 29,519 kilometres / 18,449 miles down the west coast to Ushuaia, the most southerly city in South America. His mode of transport was a tandem bicycle. Sometimes on my own, sometimes with one of the approximately 270 people he picked up for company on the back.

After an initial plan of 18 months, he soon realised that rushing south was a waste of an opportunity to get to know people and places. He also underestimated the amount of ongoing rest needed to continue ploughing ahead with 100kg plus of bicycle, and occasionally a little extra weight added by a less than fit companion. He arrived at the Southern tip of Patagonia 2 years and 2 months after rolling away from Prudhoe Bay. Click here to view trailer

<description>Take A Seat Egypt is the third International Take A Seat project by Dominic Gill, who now takes his tandem bicycle to Egypt, the heart of the Arab uprising. He explores the country, its politics and its rich history inviting Egyptian people to take a seat and help him pedal through the heat of summer to experience the rawest of road trips, with no doors or windows protecting them from reality. Painful, beautiful and everything in between. Click here to view trailer
