Biba is a new way to play and socialize made possible by advanced mobile technology and teeter- totters. Biba provides a new lens through which players see playgrounds and transforms digital games from sedentary activities to physical, outdoor experiences. <description>Splatter is a playful interactive art installation.

The splattered blobs of color projected on a wall react to a paint brush by moving within the projected canvas surface, finally resting in a new pattern. Just like in a Rorschach test, the audience sees a different shape in each pattern. This installation was presented in an art show called Skrol at the Centre for Digital Media.

This project uses a projector, a Wii remote and infra-red light to interact with the shapes in the art piece. The set up for the Wii remote and infrared pens is well explained here. Since a Wii remote can sense upto 4 infrared inputs, I could make multiple brushes fitted with the infrared light. As a result, the audience are able to compete or collaborate by pulling the shapes towards them. Children, particularly, enjoyed this installation.

My Role: This was a self initiated project that included art, programming and hardware.

In School 26, you play as Kate, a teenager who has been to 25 different high schools because her hippy-dippy faith healer parents keep getting run out of town. Kate’s parents tell her that if she makes lasting friendships at school, they’ll settle down permanently. Your goal is to befriend seven different kids by helping them work through their personal (and interpersonal) problems.

<description>Privacy Pirates is an interactive educational quiz on online privacy for children between the ages of 5 and 8.

One of the other major goals of this project was to encourage children to seek guidance from their parents or teachers if they are unsure of anything online.

In Privacy Pirates children attempt to assemble a map leading to a pirate treasure (introducing the idea that information has value). In doing so they encounter a variety of situations in which they will be asked to give up information. Making the correct choices will be rewarded with an additional piece of the map.

This project is an initiative from a Canadian non-profit organization, Media Awareness Network, that has been a pioneer in the development of digital media literacy programs.

My Role: I created all pirate characters and the wise old mentor in their various environments along with the child friendly UI design.

<description>Precipice is an interactive 3D game and a simulation that vividly describes future scenarios based on climate change and environmental disasters.

The player interacts with a number of characters and narrative artifacts. The player can influence the characters to make decisions in life that can negatively or positively influence the future. The player can experience the outcomes of the interactions in the future. The game is riddled with narrative puzzles to encourage the player to explore various outcomes.

This project is a collaboration between the Centre for Digital Media and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) under Homeland Security located in Washington D.C., USA.

My Role: In a team of 7 people, my role consisted of creating and managing all 2D art assets which included more than 400 panels. All panels were visualizations of branching narratvie content.

The goal of the game is to collaboratively fly a single object (called the Wobblegong!) through various strange environments while avoiding and overcoming obstacles in the way. Each player controls a part of the Wobblegong! using only a single button. Social interaction and communication are key elements in the success of the players.

The game was developed under the mentorship of Brenda Bailey, former C.O.O. of Deep Fried Entertainment and currently C.E.O of Silicon Sisters Interactive. This project has been awarded a development grant from Microsoft under the pioneering Industry-University Mentorship Program initiated by Don Mattrick.

My Role: I was the lead artist on a team of five. I created most of the in-game art assets including animations and user interface art.
