Brand Refresh project for Furnishings company Coco Republic. Having diversified into various departments of service, Coco Republic wanted an identity system that distinguished its service departments whist still remanning true to the Coco Republic brand.

Individual brand marks were crafted for Coco Republic's Interior design and Property Styling services. Each mark was highly customised, the magenta overlay shown in the images indicates the typafaces original form.

The brand refresh covered all of Coco Republic's communication pieces. Whilst working at Wishart Design I was lucky enough to be able to work on the Coco Republic website as well.

All work was completed whilst at Wishart Design

This is a personal project initiated because of my fascination with the concept of visual perception. Being a visual communication designer,
examining the way people perceive what they see is important to me.

The three A3 experimental publications cover visual perception, depth sensation and the Rorschach inkblot test as a means of looking into the topic of visual perception on both an aesthetical and psychological perspective.

		<description>&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/16419/176525/check out_1.jpg" border="0" width="180" height="50" width_o="180" height_o="50" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/16419/176525/check out_1_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;
Check-Out is an airport lounge catering for the independent traveller. The concept was formed as a collaboration between myself, Taylor Walace and Robbie Whitehead. Copy was written by Robbie. The visual Identity of Check-Out is driven by the brands core values of value, social, youthful and comfort.

The visual language is a representation of these values. The identity is highly conversational and as such is primarily driven by the messages communicated with the tone and manner of the copy which is then reflected in the typography. A clean approach was chosen to signify the brands values of comfort and value for money and well as drawing on inspirations of the Airport signage and environment where Check-Out will be situated.

Check-Out’s visual language then expands the identity into the modern day embodying youth, adventure, and excitement, which are core values of both the independent traveller and our brand. The name Check-Out is further reference to symbols of airport culture and suggests a parody of the strict and serious atmosphere of airports. The idea is that our members can literally Check-Out of the airport temporarily.

The identity system was created so that there is to be a master Check-Out brand with each of the lounges to receive a sub brand according to their location. For instance Check-Out. Sydney for the Sydney lounge. The brand is manufactured so that each lounge has a primary colour palette of black and grey plus its individual accent colour. Then for the master brand the eight accent colours for each of the locations comes together to form the colour palette of the master Check-Out brand.

The 2010/11 Billy Blue College of Design prospectus was based on the concept of that the college is like a thread that keeps everyone together, everyone being the students, lecturers and the design industry. The concept was to instill a sense of community upon the reader.

This is the biggest prospectus for Billy Blue to date, due to their expansion into courses for other areas of design, this translated into the design language becoming about the fundamentals of design which applied to the new range of courses. Five primary shapes were used as chapter markers and also used as the basis for the image style which showed people in the collage of shapes made up of imagery from around the college.

This project was completed in collaboration with Susanna Livijn Wexell.

		<description>&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/16419/176522/sig.jpg" border="0" width="180" height="50" width_o="180" height_o="50" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/16419/176522/sig_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;
This project is an identity for a wedding planner. The visual identity system designed for Signature is based on the focus Signature has on the needs of each individual couple. The idea that no wedding is the same and Signature has positioned itself to be able to plan weddings for any ‘style’ of wedding. As with the naming of the brand Signature refers to the individuality of each persons signature as a reflection of their personality. The hand drawn typography is an approach that is a visual realisation of a Signature and a representation of a persons unique wordmark.

The Diamond as a symbol is the basis of the iconography that the Signature Wedding Planners identity is based on. The logotype is dynamic in the way it appears across the identity system to reinforce the notion of it being a unique mark becoming slightly different every time it appears. Hand generated the logotype is created with ink and scanned as a grey scale image to keep the tones within the ink present when it appears.

Identity for a new student travel agency. The concept for the identity is based on the idea of location using the degrees and minutes of longitude and latitude to represent this. The technical nature of this concept is expanded on through the visual language over the communication pieces. Secondary to this is the reference made to ticking and baggage ticketing systems used in airports, which is primarily evident in the stationery set.

Process

The following shows the documented research, proposals and design process that was undertaken for the Roam project. It is in three stages, the research plan in the beginning that stated the idea and the aims of the project before any design had taken place. The second stage was in the middle of the project and demonstrates experimentation with the visual language for the project. The last stage is the manifesto where by the project is presented, summarised and reflected upon.
