Projected over an image of the Guadiana River, words associated with water and environmental issues rained from the sky into the river and then flowed down the stream into the future. Visitors were invited to choose and reach out for the words that meant most to them. When a word was chosen, letters exploded into an array of colors while the visitor listened to them being said in three languages, generating a soundscape of words. A total of ten interactive installations were designed to raise public awareness in environmental issues related with waste management and recycling. By designing interactions that used sensors, augmented reality, touch screens, and RFIDs, made this learning experience more engaging. Augmented reality was used to help visitors simulate the domestic combustion process. Gesturing over sensors would turn the pages of a virtual newspaper and visitors also learned how to recycle different materials in a multi-user interactive game by dragging and dropping objects into the appropriate bins.
