My closet has a handful of tees and a couple pairs of jeans. Chelsea Eager, however, has an entire online boutique. She needed a handful of shots to show off her holiday line--things to wear to holiday parties. I have a handful of vintage cameras on which I shoot B&W film and then process in my kitchen, which is as much of a challenge as it is an artform. With digital, pulling the saturation to 0 does little more than add borrowed nostalgia. His debut, The Wanderings of an Illustrative Mind, feels kind of like falling endlessly, which I imagine feels exactly the same as floating. So how do you portray that in a photo? It might have something to do with all the Paula Abdul that ends up on the radio or it could just be her amazing leather jacket. Either way, nothing says 80's more to me than the bloom effect. So we used a handful of Kodak Carousel slide projectors and a strobe pointed pretty much straight at the camera.
