		<description>Client: Paratype.
Genre: Animation, video
Instructor: Michele Wong Kung Fong

Animation for Russian type foundry Paratype.

Watch:

Created for one of the first foundries to break away from the state, the video alludes to Russian constructivism, highlighting the idea of rebuilding through type. Cyrillic alphabets are used as well as some more traditional typefaces, most of which were created 75+ years ago.

Video seeks to highlight the individualities and differences of the typefaces, a collection of distinct parts rather than a large homogenized whole. </description>

<description>My first experience in designing materials for myself. Album art is centered around song content, a mix of passion and sarcasm, awkwardness and confidence, comforting and frightening thought. Album is based around the idea of broken lines, the title track and driving concept behind the art and the music itself. Each song references this idea in some way weather it is in broken lines of communication, broken relationships, broken intentions, the album as a whole fixated on disconnection where there should be engagement. Type and imagery draw from Victorian era and a more casual, hand drawn, folky aesthetic. The two styles contrast against one another yet mix well, alluding to a dichotomy. Similarly, dreamy and girly colors are paired with a more vibrant deep rust.

<description>Transcendental Toddy is a fictional company supplying cold brew, the strongest and smoothest option around for black coffee. With long shelf life, three times the caffeine of normal coffee, and a 12 hour brewing process, Transcendental Toddy surpasses the average cup of joe, taking the act of coffee drinking to its outermost limits. Packaging plays with the idea of coffee as a substance capable of transporting its drinker to an eye openingly caffeinated state. Funky sci-fi imagery, allusions to drug language, and an all seeing coffee bean eye establish this 32 oz bottle fo cold brew as an otherworldly stimulant.

Branding and brand extension for Omaha based housecleaning company The Maids. Boasting 800 franchise locations in the U.S. in Canada and a five-member cleaning team for every house tidied, The Maids are a forced to be reckoned with. Branding reflects this, taking cues from military language and imagery, prompting the viewer to see the Maids as the efficient, widespread, and thorough cleaning team that they are.

		<description>Client: Nugget Markets
Genre: Branding, lettering, web.
Instructor: Frances Yllana

Nugget Markets is a small chain of California-based grocery stores. Started up by a father and son in 1926, Nugget is still a family owned company. Boasting a broad selection of both specialty goods and everyday items at low prices, they make gourmet foods more accessible. Branding seeks highlight these company traits by instilling a sense of excitement and passion about food and the farm to market process.

Language draws cues from the gold rush, playing with the name of the company, Nugget’s Californian heritage, and the sense of adventure and discovery one experiences when walking through Nugget.

stationery:
&#60;img src="http://payload52.cargocollective.com/1/3/107221/3349308/crgosttnery1.jpg" width="670" height="478" width_o="2048" height_o="1462" src_o="http://payload52.cargocollective.com/1/3/107221/3349308/crgosttnery1_o.jpg" data-mid="17267677"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload52.cargocollective.com/1/3/107221/3349308/crgosttnery0.jpg" width="670" height="478" width_o="2048" height_o="1462" src_o="http://payload52.cargocollective.com/1/3/107221/3349308/crgosttnery0_o.jpg" data-mid="17267550"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload52.cargocollective.com/1/3/107221/3349308/crgosttnery2.jpg" width="670" height="478" width_o="2048" height_o="1462" src_o="http://payload52.cargocollective.com/1/3/107221/3349308/crgosttnery2_o.jpg" data-mid="17267591"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

In-store signage:
Language takes cues from gold rush and mining terms combined with food words for playful yet informative mix of copy and imagery. Signs seek to instill a sense of enthusiasm and excitement about the process of buying food.

		<description>Client: Kochi Spicehouse
Genre: Packaging, branding, brand extension.
Instructor: Karen Dorff

For this project, students were assigned a basic genre of client. Mine was "spice store." We each named our company, created marks, designed packaging and constructed "super mockups".

Named after the spice capitol of india, Kochi's brand centers around the idea of creativity in cooking. Packages are loosely modeled after art supplies (paint tubes, crayon boxes, turpentine containers, etc) to encourage artistry in the kitchen.

Bright, bold colors and the kinetic "house" system reflect the differing regions and flavors of the spice world, contained under a single roof
