Humi is low energy indoor clothes dryer which emits no additional moisture into the environment of your home and dries your clothes using no heat.

87% of homes in the UK use indoor clothes driers to dry their clothes. On average this emits 2 litres of water per load of washing into the home, increasing dust mite population and mold spore growth. Long exposure to these conditions can lead to Asthma, heightened sensitivity to allergies and a generally weakened immune system.

Humi takes the form of a pop up unit which when collapsed takes up a third of the space of a tumble dryer and can be easily stored under a bed. Humi dries your clothes by exposing them to a high airflow environment. This level of airflow liberates the moisture from the garments, which is then harvested by special cartridges in the base unit.

By using no heat Humi is capable of drying delicate garments that could not normally be put in the dryer such as cashmere and technical fabrics found in sports equipment.

Humi will be exhibited at the RCA end of year show 2013

<description>Pelican is an intelligent shopping basket that enables non-native people to navigate their shopping experience, buying things they like and helping them learn and try new things.

After conducting first hand ethnographical research and fieldwork surrounding the emigration of western people to Japan, Pelican was created as part of the test program for a new course called Global Innovation Design, a collaboration between the Royal College of Art, Pratt Institute and Keio University.

The device uses RFID and barcode scanning technologies to translate the packaging on groceries, and also suggests related products the user might like to try, while navigating them through the grocery store.

The concept of our Mars Rover was designed around the context of preservation of the human race. The year is 2050. Earth is polluted irreversibly, and humans must look for new resources to avoid pending extinction.

The United Nations decide to fund a space expedition to build and sustain a greenhouse on Mars for a period of two years. The expedition is broken into two launches: first, the greenhouse, followed by crew and rovers once the greenhouse lands safely on Mars.

The greenhouse is designed to be a modular entity that becomes mobile when the four individual Mars rovers attach and become one-quarter of the wheels needed for mobility.

The individual rovers act as private quarters for the crew, as well as personal vehicles for solo expeditions across Mars terrain. The greenhouse acts as a both central hub of oxygen and food production, as well as a hub of communal/social interaction. The energy production for the greenhouse and rovers is mainly solar and contributes to the system of food/energy production to sustain the
man-made closed loop ecosystem.

<description>SPIT Design is a collective formed of Industrial Designers and Engineers from the Royal College of Art.

Inspired by biomimetics and and the way in which nature uses substrates to create, the team looked at creating a new, disruptive manufacturing process.

After an experimental design process SPIT design developed a new manufacturing process called ZEUS. A process which takes inspiration from the way fulgarites are created when lightning strikes a beach, to create a generatively reinforced composite able to additively manufacture working objects in a matter of moments.

SPIT design exhibited ZEUS at the Royal College of Arts interim show Grist! with a collection of exemplar objects made using this process.

The Le-Creuset Coquetier A Pain "bread cutter" aims to disrupt the egg cup market by removing it completely. This device punches a hole into a slice of bread creating an aperture perfectly sized to support a medium egg, while the bread can be utilised to produce soldiers. The object embodies the Le-Creuset brand through material selection (phenolic handle, stainless food safe cutter, billet aluminium body with enamel fade finish).
