<description>Chosen was delighted to work with Lord Baker and Peter Mitchell to develop the visual brand for University Technical Colleges.

We researched, talked and listened. We then distilled what we had learnt. The result is a professional, dignified, authoritative and yet irresistible logo which conveys the highly regarded, technically oriented study and training offered by university technical colleges. The brand was launched in February 2010 at a highly successful seminar in London organised by Chosen which was attended by vice chancellors, principals, ceos, local authority and education department staff. We were pleased to help write, design and produce the brochure, website (www.utcolleges.org) and various promotional items to accompany the launch.

<description>The SSAT has begun working with the Abu Dhabi government to teach core subjects using the English language and sharing methods of raising achievement pioneered in England.

The strong and simple logo we created hints at celebration of success, reaching for the stars, children simply waving a flag and enjoying themselves, with the E woven into the flag standing for Education, Excellence, English Language, etc. It was designed to correspond with SSAT corporate logo colours and the brand is clear and powerfully translates across all media, from worksheets to office posters, to newsletters, website and T-shirts.

Editorial and translation of design and language into Arabic produced for business cards and bilingual newsletter.

We took the eye-catching photograph for the front cover and for the content pages provided the complex text and charts in a straightforward and readable typographical style.

<description>Starfish is an initiative of the Social Justice Group of a local church. They asked for a friendly starfish, perhaps holding a pencil, as they help people fill in the often complex forms for disability living allowance, attendance allowance, immigration etc.

Once a man was walking along a beach. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day. Away in the distance he could see a little girl going back and forth between the surf's edge and and the beach. Back and forth the girl went. As the man approached he could see that there were hundreds of starfish stranded on the sand as the result of the natural action of the tide. The man was stuck by the the apparent futility of the task. There were far too many starfish. Many of them were sure to perish. As he approached, the girl continued the task of picking up starfish one by one and throwing them into the surf. "You must be crazy” he said to her. “There are thousands of miles of beach covered with starfish. You can't possibly make a difference." The little girl looked at the man. She then stooped down and picked up one more starfish and threw it back into the ocean. She turned back to the man and said, "It certainly made a difference to that one!"

Chosen commissioned and art-directed photography for the publication at several schools and initiated a new and vibrant style to make a complex topic accessible and enjoyable to read.
