		<description>ROAD SCHOLARS
This book was created for FatCat's client, Road Scholars, who restores and sells collectible cars. We created this book as a Customer Appreciation Book for Road Scholars to give to their clients as a gift after a car restoration has been completed.

We started with the 1950 Porsche Gmund, a car that was recently restored and won first in class at Pebble Beach. Our client provided us with historical writings and photos, restoration process photos, and awards ceremony photos, and I designed the book with this content. We went though many rounds of design concepts and content revisions, before coming to the final product. In the future Road Scholars plans to make a book for each client that goes through the restoration process to show their appreciation and give the customer a memorable token of the process.

ROAD SCHOLARS
This book was designed for the same client, Road Scholars, to aid them in getting accepted into prestigious car shows. To gain access to these events, they must go through a rigorous selection phase, in which they are required to provide evidence of their credibility and expertise. I designed this Awards and Restorations Portfolio for them to send to judges when trying to gain access to competitions. It lists all the restoration awards they’ve won, and displays a few photos of each car to show the quality of their work.

BRYTONS HOME
This is a redesign of an exisiting client's logo who used to only provide bathroom remodels, but has now moved into other home remodeling services such as kitchens and windows. He wanted to keep the same style as his previous logo, but add a image to represent home improvement, and change the name from "Brytons Bath" to "Brytons Home"

VEGETABLE PLANTING GUIDE FOR 4-H EDUCATION
This was a publication designed for a professor at North Carolina State who is a partner with the 4-H organization. Together they developed a guide for elementary school teachers to help them teach their students how to plant gardens and learn the importance of farming, fruits and vegetables, and local produce. It includes a series of 40 custom vegetable illustrations that I designed for the project. It also includes a chart with the 40 vegetables and their different planting dates and specifications, as well as other planting tips and information.

STRAWBERRY TEACHING GUIDE FOR 4-H EDUCATION
This was another publication by the same professor in conjunction with the 4-H club, about how to plant vegetable gardens, geared again towards elementary school teachers. This project will eventually become a series of publications about many different fruits and vegetables, and we began with a publication about planting strawberries. It also includes custom strawberry illustrations.

Our client conducted and filmed interviews with a couple of their clients to show the quality of their customer relationships and satisfaction. I chopped the footage into video clips, edited the clips down to the pertinent information, reorganized them so they made sense in order and told a story, and then created opening slides for each section and question.

FATCAT ANIMATION
This animation was made for the FatCat website to explain our services as a comprehensive marketing firm to prospective clients. I came up with the storyline, drew storyboards, designed series of illustrations, recorded a co-worker narrating the story, and paced out the illustrations to match the narration and background music. 		<description>GREG SUGGS INSURANCE WEB DESIGN
While I worked with FatCat Strategies, we designed this website for our client, Greg Suggs Insurance. I drew wireframes, developed the architecture and organization of the site and designed the site. An outside vendor coded the design into a custom Wordpress template, which we then had to further code to have the full functionality we wanted. I also designed a set of six illustrations to be used as icons at the top of the site and illustrations throughout the site to visually represent the different types of insurance the client offers. Some of the coding we had to do can be seen in the last image in this slideshow, which shows when I was having problems placing the icons and had to use Firebug to inspect the code and write HTML and CSS to resize and place the icons.

UNIFIED IMAGING HTML WEB DESIGN
While I worked with FatCat Strategies, I designed this HTML web page for our client, Unified Imaging. Our client did not want a functional website with buttons and links, only a web presence with information about his product. I designed this HTML page, tested it on his server, and uploaded it to his server. Then, I also designed an HTML login page for him in which he is going to add his own HTML login fields in the empty white box. Prior to these projects I had also designed his  logo and identity, which can be seen here.

FATCAT HOMEPAGE RE-DESIGN
This was already the FatCat website before I came on as designer, but I got the chance to redesign the homepage, to better show the studio's services and capabilities. Together as a team we constructed a Case Studies section to our website and wrote case studies on four of our clients. I then arranged printed materials from those clients in our studio, photographed the set ups, and the photoshopped in other elements such as their website design and a slogan from our studio. These images were placed on the homepage as a slide deck as the first image you see on our website. At the bottom of the homepage, there is also a section with the four information packets I also designed, that link to their respective sections.

UNIQUE CONCEPTS WEB DESIGN
We designed this website for our client, Unique Concepts, who designs and builds custom furniture for businesses. I started again in the wireframes stage, determining the architecture and organization of the site.  Then I designed the site, and it was coded into a custom Wordpress website. This site was more complicated than the Greg Suggs website because it has a portfolio of all their furniture design projects, as well as case studies. I really enjoyed figuring out how to organize all the different sections and images. We also set our client up with a special plug in that made uploading and categorizing images in the future as easy as possible for them.

FINANCIAL SYMMETRY LANDING PAGES
These pages were designed as landing pages for prospects to land on from the national NAPFA and FPA websites. The landing pages give the prospects information about Financial Symmetry and how they conduct business. It also has two calls to actions, to either request an information packet, or a meeting with an advisor. I coded the form into the landing page and the information from the filled out forms are sent to Financial Symmetry's leads program so they can track and keep up with leads.

		<description>CALENDAR CLIENT GIFT
This was a custom desktop calendar I designed as a Holiday gift for our clients at FatCat Strategies. I assigned a color to each month and designed a custom illustration representing each month. We also included marketing tips for each month as reminders to keep up with their marketing goals. A challenge of this project was making sure to have a wide variety of interests represented so that everyone would be able to relate to some aspect of the calendar.

PRICING AND INFORMATION PACKETS
FatCat already had pricing and information packets for different services they offered. I was asked to re-design the packets to better represent our capabilities and make the information clear. I redesigned the entire series and implemented an overall structure of "steps" as sections in the packet to make the steps of the design process easier to understand. I also designed custom illustrations for the packets.

		<description>Activate was a group school project from my senior studio where we developed an in-depth campaign, performing the roles of ethnographers, researchers, informers, and designers. Activate is a campaign that myself and three other studio mates developed that aims to inform our fellow Raleigh residents of the ways our smart city is thriving around us and paving the way for Electric Vehicle adoption. I took on a major role as researcher in our group and researched all aspects of electric vehicles. Our campaign aimed to raise awareness about electric vehicles by addressing Raleigh residents on three separate levels, with each leading to the next:

1. General Interest: environmental graphics + t-shirts
2. Informational: web interface to showcase data
3. Individual involvement: package mailer, guide book

As I stated above, I was head of research for our campaign, and I also created and designed the Informational phase of the campaign. The campaign was also very collaborative. We developed the brand style together as a team, and worked everyday together getting feedback from one another on our individual responsibilities, as well as working together on certain aspects of the campaign such as the concept map, t-shirt production, and Brand Style Manual.

		<description>My senior year capstone project in school was a public awareness campaign contained in a public forum event targeting young adult moviegoers and independent filmmakers to inform them about the current state of the ratings system, how it works, what might need to be changed, and how we can ignite the change. 

The campaign consisted of a thought-provoking video, publication containing deep research, a series of film posters, and a series of promotional event posters. The context of the hypothetical campaign was a public forum at the Full Frame Festival in Durham where the video would be screened as an introduction to the MPAA ratings system, and the informative booklet passed out that would promote debate at the forum. The promotional posters would be distributed around Raleigh and Durham colleges and movie theaters to promote the event. The research focuses on the comparison of the amount of violence and sex allowed in each rating category, and how the NC-17 rating often leads to artistic censorship based on the taste preferences of only ten people. 

MISSION STATEMENT
The purpose of my design is to communicate a message that empowers individuals to transform society by being informed about an issue. My work invests in these collective ideas the ability to influence our culture, creating a message that informs the audience rather than manipulates them. My designs work to communicate complex ideas and research rather than products.

The video below was created by collecting and editing together video clips from films found on Youtube and are only used as media in a student project, and were not distributed or sold in any way.

		<description>This work is from a previous job as Museum Education Assistant at CAM Raleigh, the Contemporary Art Museum. I have created the entire system of graphic design materials for the 2011 Design Camp. Design Camp is a one week camp that occurs three times throughout the summer including one day camp and two overnight camps. The camp takes place at NC State University for high school students interested in the field of design as a career, giving them insight and experience in design.
