Exhibition Concept & Design

The exhibit, Core Values: An architectural deconstruction
of Mid Century Modernism on the West Coast, celebrates the materials and aesthetics of the style. The focus of the exhibit was the interplay between Modernism’s core values: form=function and beauty=structural value. The solution was to showcase how each material played an integral role in the movement’s enduring appeal.

The invitation mimics the deconstruction motif of the exhibit. Recipients had to literally take apart the invitation to get the details of the event. They could then rebuild the piece as a West Coast Modernist memento.

The signage made use of the primary building materials of Mid-Century West Coast Modernism: wood, glass and concrete.

High Noon showcases the work of freelance illustrators directly without the participation of art representatives. The magazine produces biannual issues in three cities: Vancouver, New York, and Berlin. Local illustrators pay for their work to be featured and this creates a revenue stream for the magazine. <img src="http://payload123.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/4775466/Covers_v2_905.jpg" width="905" height="600" width_o="905" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload123.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/4775466/Covers_v2_o.jpg" data-mid="28762841" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload123.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/4775466/Spines_1_905.jpg" width="905" height="600" width_o="905" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload123.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/4775466/Spines_1_o.jpg" data-mid="28762842" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload123.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/4775466/Env_Cover_905.jpg" width="905" height="600" width_o="905" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload123.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/4775466/Env_Cover_o.jpg" data-mid="28763035" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload123.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/4775466/Manila_back_905.jpg" width="905" height="600" width_o="905" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload123.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/4775466/Manila_back_o.jpg" data-mid="28762846" border="0" align="left"/>

Dear Vancouver is a fictional local initiative to expand the opportunities for youth to volunteer in civic event and activities. Bright colours and open space create the sense of possibility and fulfillment in this highly interactive environment.

Through multimedia channels this project keeps users involved and up to date with their city. By integrating not only community events but, entertainment and social causes this application works to appeal to wide variety without being streamlined.

Wiseguys is a rebrand of a popular but fictional chocolate candy that targets an older demographic’s nostalgia. A hand-lettered logo and strong slab serifs give the recyclable tin a look and feel that calls to mind “the good old days”. <img src="http://payload148.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/5270355/Front_905.jpg" width="905" height="600" width_o="905" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload148.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/5270355/Front_o.jpg" data-mid="28363798" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload148.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/5270355/FullBox_flat_905.jpg" width="905" height="600" width_o="905" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload148.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/5270355/FullBox_flat_o.jpg" data-mid="28364069" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload148.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/5270355/Back_905.jpg" width="905" height="600" width_o="905" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload148.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/5270355/Back_o.jpg" data-mid="28363802" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload148.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/5270355/Wiseguys_Stationery_1_2_905.jpg" width="905" height="600" width_o="905" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload148.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/5270355/Wiseguys_Stationery_1_2_o.jpg" data-mid="28363976" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload148.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/5270355/Wiseguys_flat_bright_1_905.jpg" width="905" height="600" width_o="905" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload148.cargocollective.com/1/6/222099/5270355/Wiseguys_flat_bright_1_o.jpg" data-mid="28363896" border="0" align="left"/>

Website Design

TedX strives to promote “ideas worth sharing”. This event, hosted by Capilano University and targeting students, was themed “Latitudes”. Latitudes represent wide scope for exploration and discovery both geographically and in the imagination. The blurry images, which come into focus slowly, help communicate the process of the refinement and sharing of newly explored and discovered ideas.

Branding & Packaging Design

Maker is a Vancouver clothing boutique that features in-house tailors and custom designs, and hires design graduates who have free access to the workspace. This combination
sets Maker apart. To express this unique market position, the identity embodies an atelier aesthetic: distinctive, high-end, and expertly tailored. This is expressed in a stripped-down, minimal look that reflects the classic, effortless styles of custom design.
